Lead the Way: Instructional Feedback Lead the Way: Instructional Feedback

"“The most powerful single modification that enhances achievement is feedback. The simplest prescription for improving education must be ‘dollops of feedback.’” – John Hattie

Hattie’s research reminds us that effective school leadership—especially when rooted in meaningful feedback, clarity, and consistent follow-through—has a direct and measurable impact on student achievement. Quality building leaders don’t just manage—they influence learning at every level by ensuring instructional practices are visible, supported, and continuously improved.

Quarter 1 Checkpoints Quarter 1 Checkpoints

  • Progress Toward the Three CTE Priority Areas: Are we advancing our district CTE goals: Three-Tier Credential System implementation, Program Evaluation, and Business/Industry Engagement
  • Classroom Mosaic Observations: Remember that every teacher should receive written feedback in Classroom Mosaic at least once per quarter. Are we on pace to meet that expectation? Are we using those observations to provide specific, actionable feedback that fosters growth?
  • Gradebook Review: Do gradebooks align with district expectations for accuracy, timeliness, and transparency? Consistent grading practices build trust and help students take ownership of their learning.
  • Attendance Review: How does student attendance look? Identify any students at risk of failing due to absences and ensure plans are in place for seat time recovery where needed.
  • Teacher Performance Concerns: Do you have any teachers in need of formal documentation regarding performance? Are you monitoring all active improvement plans?

Reporting Staff Injuries | Updated Guidance Reporting Staff Injuries | Updated Guidance

Please review and follow the updated guidance when reporting any incident that includes a staff injury due to a student or student event. When making the initial call to the Hotline, include only the most critical details such as type of weapon or the extent of injury if known. DO NOT include student subgroup information such as SWD or ML. The principal or safety administrators must then complete a detailed Accident/Incident Notification Form for every staff injury, regardless of whether it qualifies as a workers’ compensation case. The report should be forwarded to the required district staff listed in the attached graphic, with a copy also sent to Traci Hogan ONLY if the incident involves a student with disabilities (SWD). Contact your Assistant Superintendent with questions.

Raptor Badge Training: False Badge Alerts Raptor Badge Training: False Badge Alerts

Greg and/or the School Safety Specialist will request about 15 minutes at your next faculty meeting at those schools that have had false Raptor badge alerts to review the procedures for the badges. If you are contacted, you will need to arrange for the training to occur as soon as possible (you may have to schedule an additional meeting) so we can hopefully reduce the false alerts.
