NOCC NEWS
Last week, NOCC kicked off No Vape November at Lake Orion High School with a fun lunch-time game that demonstrated firsthand how vaping impairs the lungs. Students raced to accurately place pieces of paper using straws: one βhealthy lungsβ straw, and one bent, narrowed βvaping lungsβ straw. We learned hands-on how vaping makes it harder for your lungs to do their job, the importance of keeping our lungs healthy, and had a great time competing with friends and winning prizes!
Missed us on Friday? Never fear, No Vape November is still here! NOCC will be back in the cafeteria on Thursday, November 20 during all lunch periods with a new game and more prizes, so stay tuned for more No Vape November fun!
Attendance Spotlight
Reporting Absences and Early Dismissals
LOHS utilizes School Dismissal Manager (SDM) for reporting absences and early dismissals. It is accessible through SDM Website or smartphone app - no need to call the school.
- First time users must sign in to SDM using the welcome email sent to families at the end of August. Email Ms. Humes for assistance.
- When signing your child out early, please remind them to check their email for the SDM confirmation.
- They will need to show the SDM confirmation email to their teacher and the front door attendance clerk when leaving.
- Thereβs no need for parent/guardian to come into the building once permission has been given via SDM or phone call.
If further assistance is needed:
- for SDM, contact Ms. Humes at patricia.humes@lok12.org or 248-693-5420 option 1.
- for the early dismissal line, please contact Jennifer Ply at 248-693-5420 option 2.
