Pictured above are Piper, Megan, Eyana, Emma, and Kamron. Thank you to the parents and classroom teachers for your support and Mr. Dye who came to watch! All of our OBOB teams will have a celebration in April.

Principal's Message
Hello Lincoln Community,
Spring has begun and now Spring Break is here! After a two-day student week, we appreciated the opportunity to connect individually with nearly every family at conferences. Thank you for prioritizing this, as talking about your student(s) progress is such an important part of the partnership we share with you.
We Return on Monday, March 31: Following a week of Spring Break, we all return to school on Monday, March 31. We have many important dates in April, so please take time to review these in the Important Dates section of this Newsletter. As we start up again, we will review school-wide expectations with our students; however, this time we will do this in a way so our students can lead and remind each other by sharing their expertise.
So Much Happens Each Week at Lincoln: In addition to all of our academic learning, throughout the year we have spirit days, assemblies, celebrations, field trips, and special events. In this Newsletter we've included a few pictures from the day where students and staff came with wild and fun hair styles, some pictures from conferences, the book fair, and our five 5th graders who competed in OBOB.
Emergency Drills: As you likely know, throughout the year we practice emergency drills so we can be prepared in the event that there's a fire, an earthquake, a lockdown, and so forth. As we return from the Spring Break we'll be practicing a Lockdown Drill. Some families may wish to visit together ahead of time about this, and so we've included information below on the Lockdown Drill.
Questions: As always, please feel free to send your questions or feedback to us at teresa.alfaro@woodburnsd.org or pmcdougal@woodburnsd.org.
Go Dolphins!
Sincerely,
Teresa Alfaro - Principal
Peter McDougal - Assistant Principal

Lockdown Drill Coming Soon
Sometime during the week we return from Spring Break, we will practice a Lockdown Drill. This is a drill we practice twice each year, and one of the many drills we practice throughout the school year. The Lockdown Drill is when we prepare for highly-unlikely event that we have a person of concern who enters our building and poses some kind of danger. By practicing, we can be prepared should the need ever arise. We've included some visuals below that you can review if you desire.
Other Emergency Drills We Will Practice Soon: As with every month, we will practice a Fire Drill in April. We also plan to practice our second Earthquake Drill of the year.
Safe Travel and Transportation Reminders:
Helping Families Feel Safe - Re: Immigration Policies
We want to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every student, family, and staff member in Woodburn School District feels safe and welcomed in our schools. We recognize that concerns about immigration policies and enforcement can create stress and fear for many in our community, and we want to assure you that our schools remain a place of safety, learning, and inclusion for all.

Every Day Matters - Focus on Attendance
This year we are continuing to pay close attention to ensuring that children are present at school regularly, because Every Day Matters.
Setting High Goals: We're focusing on attendance because last year 58% of our students were regular attenders (attended more than 90% of the days) and 42% were chronically absent (attended less than 90% of the days). The 58% was an improvement from the previous year when we had 51% of our students who were regular attenders. For the current school year our school leadership has set the goal to improve from 58% up to 70%. WE CAN DO IT!
So Important: There's a very strong correlation between good attendance and student success in school. Please see the visual below for more information.
