Dear Lincoln Families,

What an Incredible First Two Days, Panther Family!

Wow, what an incredible first two days back to school! Our Lincoln team was excited, prepared, and ready to welcome our students back, and it truly felt like a family reunion.

From the moment students arrived, you could feel the excitement and maybe a few first-day nerves, too! I loved seeing families walking their students to school, taking pictures in front of Lincoln, giving those last hugs, and watching as their students entered the gates. Our Panthers were greeted with bubbles, smiling staff in Lincoln spirit shirts, schedules in hand, and plenty of help finding their way to class.

These first two days were a wonderful example of our 4 Ps in action:

PRESENCE — Our staff was visible, welcoming, and ready to support students from the moment they arrived.

PARTNERSHIP — Families, staff, and students worked together to make the transition back to school successful.

PURPOSE — We are creating a school where students feel safe, connected, supported, and ready to learn.

PATHWAY — Every day at Lincoln is another step on our students’ pathway toward success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

I am so excited to see what our first full week has in store for our Panthers!

Arrival & Parking Reminders

Thank you for helping us keep arrival safe and efficient for everyone.

Upper Parking Lot: Please follow the flow of traffic, avoid going around other vehicles, slow down, and always watch for students. Please do not drop students off in the middle of the street. Encourage students to use sidewalks and designated walking areas.

Lower Parking Lot: Please follow the directions of Lincoln staff assisting with traffic. Pull your vehicle all the way forward before allowing your student to exit. If your student needs additional time to gather belongings or get out of the vehicle, please pull forward and park in a designated parking stall. This helps us keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.

If you need an earlier or more flexible morning drop-off option, we encourage families to consider enrolling their student in our STAAR morning program.

Free Breakfast & Lunch for Every Student

Another friendly reminder: All OUSD schools participate in the Universal Meals Program, which means breakfast and lunch are available at no cost to every student.

While I saw many students enjoying lunches brought from home, encourage your Panther to give our school meals a try! Our meals include a variety of options, including fresh fruits and vegetables.

Thank you, Panther families, for an amazing start to the school year and for your continued Presence, Partnership, Purpose, and commitment to your student’s Pathway.

Have a wonderful and restful weekend. Get some rest, Panthers we have our first full week ahead of us!

Respectfully,

Dr. Myeshia Whigham

Cell Phone Policy - Off and Away All Day Cell Phone Policy - Off and Away All Day

User uploaded image

Together with schools throughout Oceanside Unified School District, we continue our cell phone policy, "During the Day, Off and Away," for the 2025-2026 school year (Board Policy 5131.8). Our goal is to create a safe and focused learning environment for all students by minimizing distractions and promoting their mental well-being.

Key Points:

  • Cell Phone Usage: Students must turn off (ringer/tone/sounds off) and store their phones in their backpacks upon entering campus. Phones should stay off until they leave.

  • Exceptions: Students with specific accommodations (IEPs, 504 plans, or medical conditions) may have phone access as specified in the policy.

  • Communication: Office has landlines for students to contact parents when necessary and may ask permission to call you.

  • Academic Benefits: Reducing phone usage helps students stay focused and engaged in class.

  • Safety and Security: This policy helps prevent cyberbullying, ensures students focus during emergencies, and reduces the risk of theft or loss.

Support and disciplinary measures are in place for policy violations to help students adjust.

Thank you for your support as we work together to enhance our students' learning experience and well-being.

OUSD provides Device Protection Coverage for a fee of $20 per student. This program protects families in situations where the student’s device is accidentally damaged. Students using OUSD district-owned devices may choose to decline the “Device Protection Program”. However, this is not recommended because the family assumes full responsibility for any costs due to damage, loss, or theft. These costs can be $400 or more per incident, depending on the current prices from vendors. See the flier or buttons below for more information.
