From the Desk of Mr. Mike Shukis

Dear School Families,

I hope this message finds you well. As part of our responsibility to be good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us, we will be completing several necessary repairs and updates to our school building in the coming months. These improvements will help ensure that our students continue learning in a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment. This work will include:

Upgrading our technology infrastructure with the addition of a new firewall and access points throughout the building. This will assure our school of no more lost internet connections. Contracts have been signed and the new firewall should be installed shortly. Access points will be replaced this summer.

Our boiler is currently 66 years old with a life expectancy of 60 years. We have been told by multiple companies that our boiler can no longer be repaired and that we will need a new one. We were aware of the age of the boiler and have been putting money aside to make the purchase for a few years due to the very large expense. Contracts are ready to be signed with the expectation that a new boiler will be installed this summer.

Contracts are ready to be signed for a new stage floor in our auditorium. This work will take several weeks to complete and will not begin until after all our plays are completed this Spring.
The front of our school needs some repairs, and work can only begin once the weather warms up. Contracts have been signed as we await warmer weather.

We do not anticipate any major disruptions to the classrooms or to the school and we are planning carefully to minimize any inconvenience. Please know that student safety will remain our top priority throughout this process. All work areas will be secured, and contractors will follow strict school procedures.

We are all grateful for your understanding and partnership. Our school is a special place where faith, learning, and community come together each day. Thank you for your continued support as we care for this shared home. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

It is with great enthusiasm and gratitude that I introduce the members of our newly formed Executive Commission of Advisors (School Board). This dedicated group of individuals has generously agreed to serve our school community through leadership, guidance, and faithful stewardship.

Our Executive Commission of Advisors will work collaboratively with administration to support the mission of Catholic education, ensure responsible governance, assist with long-term planning, and strengthen our commitment to academic excellence rooted in faith.

Please join me in welcoming the following members:

Dr. Christina Fleming, President
Mr. Sean Cwynar, Vice-President
Mrs. Sara Bligh, Member
Mr. Michael Chmiel, Member
Mr. Matthew Denman, Member
Rev. Robert Jones, Member
Mrs. Laura Littner, Member
Mr. David Waggoner, Member

Each member brings a wealth of professional experience, parish involvement, and a deep commitment to our catholic identity. Their collective expertise will help guide strategic initiatives, financial oversight, policy review, and future growth opportunities for our school.

I am deeply grateful for their willingness to serve. Commission members volunteer their time and talents in service to our students, families, and the faculty, embodying the spirit of stewardship and community that defines Catholic education.

If you happen to see them at school or at a parish event, please take a moment to thank them for their service. I look forward to a fruitful partnership as we continue advancing our mission of forming students in Grace, Truth, and Unity.

I would like to personally thank everyone who took the time to fill out the recent school survey. There is much information to review and analyze as we move forward. Our administrative team began to review the responses and in two dedicated hours we were able to fully analyze a total of nine responses. I hope this shows how seriously we take this information as we continue to look for ways to improve our school and to address each school issue, concern, or thought you may have had. This process will take us some time after which I will invite all parents to attend a meeting to discuss our responses and our plans of action moving forward.

A wealthy man in Calcutta once told Mother Teresa that he would not touch a leper for one thousand rupees. Mother Teresa quickly agreed and said she also would never touch a leper for one thousand rupees. She did say, I would, however, without hesitation touch a leper for God.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mike Shukis
