MARCH 2025
Principal's Corner
March 2025
Dear Dr. Green Families,
I hope you are ready to enjoy the upcoming Spring Break. We have concluded February with fun activities such as the afterschool clubs, the PBIS spirit week, the Acts of Kindness week, Reading Across America week, and Dr. Seuss celebration. We thank you for your support in all these awesome and fun activities. Our students enjoyed all events every single time.
Spring Break is around the corner from March 10 through March 14. Students will return on Monday, March 17. During this time, please provide your children with opportunities to read, do some mathematics and talk to them about places in the world. If you are planning to travel, have fun and enjoy the family. If you are staying home, try to visit our city's parks, zoo, and children cultural and educational places.
We have began our STAAR preparation during the Saturday Workshops. Attendance to the workshops has been successful. This program is by invite only. The next Saturday Workshops will continue on March 22, and 29 and April 5, 12, and 26
for grades 3-5.
Other tutoring opportunities are:
- Our afterschool tutoring
- Spring intersession which will begin on Wednesday, March 5th

Parking Lot and Crosswalks
Drop off zone is open every day in the morning and at dismissal. For the safety of all students and adults, we ask you to please use the crosswalks and only use the first drop off lane. Please do not park in faculty parking spaces or double park. If you find a space outside our parking lot to park, please use it and leave the parking lot spaces for teachers and staff members. We truly appreciate your understanding.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to me. You can stop me if you see me around the campus or you can email me at gpineda@episd.org. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and your family.
I would like to close with this quote as our pledge to you:
"Teaching children is an accomplishment;
Getting children excited about learning is an achievement".
By Robert John Meehan
That is what we at Dr. Green believe and strive to accomplish.
Respectfully,
Ms. Guadalupe Pineda

Comprehension
This month we will be focusing on helping our readers ask good questions as they read. Here are some ideas:
What are you wondering? (The title, the cover illustration, what the book will be about, and where the story is taking place)
What do you think will happen next?
This part is confusing. Let's go back and reread to understand.
I wonder why the character did that?
What will the character do now?
What could be a new ending for this book?
