The Fowler Weekly
January 9-13
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Fowler Family,
I know you have all seen my small plugs for the iReady My Path lessons at some point, but I also wanted our parents and guardians to know that this tool can be incredibly valuable for students. Our language arts and math teams work hard to align their content standards and push students to master our adopted curriculum standards. That said, the addition of iReady diagnostic testing (Winter assessments beginning this week) can be a potential game changer if students are one or more grade levels behind in math or reading.
Students took an initial diagnostic assessment in the Fall and tutorials have been customized based on how they performed. These My Path lessons and tutorials are designed to be worked on for 30-45 minutes per week. These lessons can be done at home in addition to the time we work on them in the building. If your student is not above grade level in math or language arts, please schedule some “homework” time each week to allow your students to progress further and faster. This tool can extend learning and help build confidence and success over time, as it helps fill in any learning gaps or advance skills. Even students working at grade level will benefit from additional time spent on iReady My Path lessons to prepare for high school. We want our Fowler students to step into the high school environment with as many advantages as we can offer.
Please take a strong look at creating a home expectation where students challenge themselves by maximizing their opportunity to get through all of their current My Path lessons before school ends in June. Completing 1 or 2 lessons each week from home should advance student math and literacy skills a great deal by the end June.
Be well and be safe,
Andy

HELPFUL TIDBITS
Students who want to ride a bus home with a friend, or get off at a different stop, may do so however they must follow these steps:
Students must bring a written note from their parent/guardian that includes the student name that they will be riding home with and the bus number they will be riding. The note should be brought to the Main Office PRIOR to the end of the day for admin signature. (Example: Mickey Mouse has my permission to ride bus number 56 home with Donald Duck today, 1/5/23. Parent Signature.)
Or parents may email permission to fowleroffice@ttsd.k12.or.us and we will get the note signed and to your student.
Failure to follow the above procedures may result in parents needing to come pick up their child.
