STUDENT SERVICES AT BMS
As a team, we all share the same goal to ensure our students receive the services and support they deserve. To make this happen, it’s important that we consistently meet special education deadlines. These timelines are set to protect students and help us work smoothly with families, service providers, and each other. When information or documentation is submitted late, it can delay services and impact our ability to support students effectively. I truly appreciate the effort you put into your work, and I know how busy our days can be. Thank you for helping us stay on track by completing required tasks by the scheduled due dates. Your partnership makes a meaningful difference for our students.

Co-Writer and Snap&Read are being sunsetted by the company on December 31, 2025. All of the features of Co-Writer and most of the Snap&Read features have been 'absorbed' into Read&Write. The last few months, students have had access to all three extensions, please make sure that students who have the word prediction as an accommodation transition to the new tool in Read&Write before Co-Writer becomes inaccessible in Dec. 31, 2025.
The Read&Write extension is pushed out to all student devices, and staff can add it on their own device if they need it from the Chrome store.
Here are a few tutorial videos I found on Read&Write.
- Co-Writer features in Read&Write (video created by vendor)
- Overview of all Read&Write tools (video created by tech department of nearby school district)
According to ISBE, Read&Write will be embedded into TestNav this year, but it won't be ready until January to preview.

GENTLE REMINDERS FOR STAFF
- General Education teachers, please take the time to completely fill out the document that case managers send out so that they can completely fill out the IEP.
- Please reach out to the student's Case Manager first if you have any questions or concerns about a student in your class.
- Please remember to email Helen when you are scheduled to attend an IEP meeting. I send her a list, but sometimes the teacher changes and she is unaware.
- The Academic and Behavior checklist that we reviewed during the "small teams" meetings on Friday is linked below. Please add this to your purple folder.
GENTLE REMINDERS FOR CASE MANAGERS

- Grade Level Special Education Meetings will be held on 12/15/25, 2/2/25, 3/2/25 and 5/4/25. The agenda will be available the Thursday prior to the meeting and is linked to the calendar invite. Feel free to add to the "Parking Lot".
