PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, January 9th
Happy New Year Panthers!
I hope everyone had a wonderful break and enjoyed the time off! Winter Break is always a great time to reflect and reset for the remainder of the year. I hope you all managed to get some rest and relaxation in and are ready to dive right in to 2026!!
It has been fun to hear all the stories from winter break - the adventures, the time spent with family and friends, the games played, movies watched, delicious food consumed, and all the creative things that happened over the past two weeks!
You should have/should be receiving your child/ren's MAP scores today. These will be sent directly from Head Office and are sent out in waves so please don't worry if you have not received yours yet. If you have not received them by Sunday, January 11th, please reach out to Mrs. Hamilton or Mrs. Dunning in the office.
We have a lot of information to share in this week's Patton Post so please take some time to read through and familiarize yourself with everything. It is a busy month filled with fun events!
Have a great weekend!
Ellie Chin
PRE-REGISTRATION 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR (NEW POST!)
Pre-Registration for families with incoming NEW 1st-5th and Kindergarten students for next school year, 2026-2027, will open on Tuesday, January 13th.
Once pre-registration opens, please begin the registration process by visiting THIS LINK and clicking on the 2026-2027 Pre-Registration box.
If you know of any new families to the area/have any neighbors with school age children that you think might be interested, please feel free to share this information with them!
If you have an incoming kindergartener, please do not delay in registering them. Knowing our student enrollment assists us in planning for next year. Please encourage any neighbors who are sending their oldest child to kindergarten to register early. We appreciate your help!
FEBRUARY PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES (NEW POST!)
February conferences will take place on Monday, February 16th. These conferences will take place over one day and will be in 10-minute increments.
On Sunday, January 18th our signup genius link will be live and emailed to you at 7:00 pm.
These conferences are always a great way for you to connect with your child(ren)'s teacher, spend some time in the classroom and hear about your child's school life! We appreciate the ongoing partnership and collaboration that is shared in the Patton community. Please note that there is only one conference time slot for each student.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents: The conference times are for meeting with your child's homeroom teacher. If your child has a different teacher for math and you have specific math questions, please email him or her directly.
A NOTE FROM THE NURSE (NEW POST!)
School-age children are susceptible to various common illnesses.
We encourage you to take a moment to review this Information Letter on Common Illnesses for valuable guidance.
To help prevent these illnesses, please remind your child to practice healthy habits, including:
Washing hands frequently.
Staying well-hydrated.
Avoiding the sharing of personal items, food, or drinks.
Refraining from touching their eyes.
Covering their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter as we work together to keep our students healthy and safe.
2nd GRADE MUSICAL PERFORMANCE (NEW POST!)
Our 2nd Graders cannot wait to show you there's really "snow" place like the Patton stage on THURS., JANUARY 15th for the first musical performance of 2026, "ON WITH THE SNOW"!
This heart warming show will chase any of your winter blues away with its fun songs, high kicking dance moves and wonderful characters! Learn how real warmth starts from within and can spread just like a blizzard when shared with a song!
Doors will open at 6:40pm and the show will start promptly at 7pm.
MONARCH READING NIGHT - THURS., JANUARY 22ND (NEW POST!)
We will be highlighting several Monarch award nominated books for Kindergarten through 3rd grade students and their families. You will rotate to three different stations throughout the night and we will end with a Book Swap ( bring a book, take a book).
You will hear a teacher read the story and it will be paired with a fun STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Music) lesson.
It takes place on Thursday, January 22nd from 6:30-8:00. Come join in the literacy fun!
6th GRADE WORLD LANGUAGE (NEW POST!)
Earlier this week, 5th Grade families received a communication regarding World Language choices in 6th grade! Patton students going to Thomas Middle School will have the opportunity to learn Spanish, French or German.
Please reach out to any of the following people if you would like more information!
- Mrs. Lori Naumowicz, Principal of Thomas Middle School;
- Dr. Becky FitzPatrick, Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning;
- Mrs Katie Paulson, Program Director.
ABC 25 FOUNDATION EVENT - MONDAY, JANUARY 19TH (NEW POST!)
The ABC 25 Foundation is excited to announce that this year, it will be hosting a district-wide Anti-Bullying Campaign. This event will be held at Thomas Middle School on Monday, January 19th, 2026, a non-attendance day.
As this is a district-wide campaign, everybody in the district will get in free! Members will have the opportunity to sign up first as space will be limited and spots will go fast!
There will be 3 shows adapted for lower elementary, upper elementary, and middle school age groups. If you have a 2nd and 4th grader, for example, you can choose just one show for both to go to. This is just a guideline.
Grades K-2: 10:00-10:45
Grades 3-5: 11:30-12:15
Grades 6-8: 1:00-1:45
This is an age-appropriate, theatrical, interactive event. Box Out Bullying will use an interactive live theater, multimedia visuals, colorful characters, audience participation, and evidence-based bullying prevention techniques to capture attention, empower students, and highlight the district’s anti-bullying practices.
