๐ Get Ready for the 6th Annual March Book Madness!
The wait is almost over! Tomorrow, Friday, February 20th, we will officially reveal the contenders for the coveted D303 March Book Madness crown. Please show the commercial tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 20th) to your class to help build the excitement for our first round of books next week!
This district-wide competition has become a favorite tradition for students, teachers, and community members alike. We are thrilled to partner again with the St. Charles Public Library and Townhouse Books to celebrate 12 incredible new picture books.
How it Works:
The Reveal: Titles are announced this Friday, February 20th!
The Reading: Starting Monday, February 23rd, we will be reading the books live to students during their library time.
The Vote: New this year, students will vote for their favorite titles right at the circulation desk when they check out!
The Bracket: Over the first four weeks, students will engage with three books per week. The winners will advance to "The Final Four" in week five, where we will crown our D303 champion!
We canโt wait to share these stories with our students
and see which book takes home the title this year!
๐ฆ OSOB Reminder: Let's Record Some Chapters!
๐ฌ Production Update
Just a heads-up that I have started the editing process and it's going really well! Here's a sneak peek of the website that will house all the recordings!
๐โโ๏ธ Extra, Extra!
We have lots of chapters that need to be read! If you have time, please consider signing up and reading a couple extras!
Thank you for all your participation thusfar!
๐ VR Book Station Update: Weโre Off to a Great Start!
A huge thank you to the staff members who have already contributedโwe have received our first 5 phones for the center! Our VR collection has been an absolute hit with the students, and these donations are helping us turn that excitement into a permanent fixture.
While we are off to a great start, we could still use a few more phones. We are looking for donations of old smartphones (iPhone or Android) to serve as the display screens. If you have a device gathering dust in a drawer, please consider dropping it off at the circulation desk!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our VR collection is a hit! To keep the momentum going, we are planning a VR Book Station for use during LRC visits and need your help! This new station gives students the chance to virtually immerse themselves in the topics they are reading about, exploring everything from deep oceans to distant planets right here in the LRC.
How you can help: We are looking for donations of old smartphones (iPhone or Android) to serve as the display screens for our VR headsets.
Safety & Security Note: We know that "phones in school" can be a concern, so please rest assured:
These devices will be wiped and used strictly as VR displays.
They will not have cellular service or be used for communication.
The devices will never leave the LRC.
If you have an old device gathering dust in a drawer, please consider dropping it off at the circulation desk!

Daily Sub Tech Capabilities
New this year, daily subs will use a chromebook issued from the LRC. These devices can connect to Vivi using classlink, however, daily subs do not have the ability to print.
They also do not have access to many Classlink and instructional apps. Please keep this in mind when you are planning an absence.
