CRHS Week at a Glance, Sept. 14-18
CRHS Celebrates "Back to School" 2026-27!
Open House was a huge success- CRHS was packed with students and families catching up with friends, finding their classes and meeting their teachers! Many also took advantage of some tasty treats available from some our visiting food truck!
- Our freshmen-only first day was a success with Cardinal freshmen and new-to-CRHS 10th-12th graders participating in new student orientation and community-building activities, meeting school support staff, having lunch in the cafeteria, and attending shortened classes and doing so with the time and space to feel comfortable practicing for their first time.
Our opening pepfest of the year went great- it was a fun opportunity to build connections and school spirit right away on the first day of school!
Early this morning, CRHS seniors gathered in Cardinal Stadium to watch the sun come up together as part of the "Senior Sunrise" celebration. This is a tradition we host each September to mark the start of our seniors' year and pairs with our "Senior Sunset," where seniors gather one last time together in Cardinal Stadium to watch the sunset and mark the close of their senior year.
CRHS enjoyed awesome support each day this week with groups from across our community welcoming our students to school each day. We feel so thankful to work in such a connected and supportive community!
Behavior & Technology Expectations Overview
CRHS believes in providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for our students. To ensure your child is ready to succeed, please review the presentation below for important CRHS behavior and technology expectations for the upcoming school year.
School Safety- Entry & Exit Expectations
As the year begins, we wanted to share some general building safety expectations focusing on student entrance to CRHS. Please read the items below carefully.
Students are expected to enter CRHS through Door #1 after school starts- this includes STEP, PSEO, and Work Experience Students.
Students entering after school starts will need to provide a student ID for entry. This ID can be in the form of your plastic ID card or your profile in the StudentVue app. We can also pull up your student page from Synergy at the security booth when you enter if you do not have a card or phone but know this will take additional time.
Also, a reminder that students are not allowed to open doors for entry of anyone! Please remind your classmates to enter through Door #1. Students who open doors for others will earn consequences for violating building and district safety protocols.
All entry is required through Door #1 to ensure Cardinal Nation remains a safe and welcoming school community for all of us!
Lunch- Closed Campus, Food Delivery Reminders
We wanted to share a few important reminders as we start the new year at CRHS.
CRHS is a closed campus, which means students must remain on campus for lunch and are not allowed to order food into the building through restaurants/outside vendors (e.g. restaurant delivery, DoorDash, UberEats, etc).
Food delivered to CRHS will be turned away.
Students cannot go to their cars during the school day without a pass from the Main Office.
Students may eat lunch in the cafeteria only- other spaces are not open to food.
Senior Pictures Retakes- Sept 18th (12th Grade)
Here is important information related to Senior Pictures for 12th grade students. Please read the info below:
- CRHS Senior Pictures retakes for the yearbook will be on Friday, September 18th.
- Pictures will take place in the Mezzanine throughout the day.
- All seniors who did not attend the summer photo session at CRHS will need to take photos on this date or earlier.
CRHS Parking Permits On Sale Now!
Student parking permits for the CRHS parking lot are available for purchase now! Parking permits are sold on a first come, first served basis while available for $35.00 per trimester or $105.00 for the 2026-27 school year. As always, please remember that all outstanding fines and fees must be paid before a permit can be issued.
Parking permits are purchasable in-person at the CRHS Finance Office located in the Main Office or online via School Pay/Parent Vue. Please have your vehicle/s license plate number(s) handy when purchasing your permit as this is required information. All online purchases require students to pick up their permits from the Finance Office once school starts. Students that do not purchase a valid parking permit but drive and park at school on an occasional basis can purchase a daily parking pass for $2.00 from the Finance Office to prevent a violation.
A list of parking rules and regulations is available from the Finance Office. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Matthews at the CRHS Main Office Office, by email at lana.matthews@ahschools.us or by phone 763-506-7302
Athletic & Activity Expectations- Important Reminders
Anoka-Hennepin Schools are committed to creating experiences that showcase the talents of student-athletes in an environment that promotes healthy competition. These guidelines limit entrance to students at participating schools with identification and adult supervision for younger students and increased presence of staff and support personnel, amongst other strategies in place to keep activities safe.
As your family makes a plan to attend school events, keep the following guidelines in mind:
Purchasing event tickets
- Save time and avoid long lines and purchase your tickets online by clicking here.
Event entrance overview and expectations
Bring student IDs and allow extra time for admission and entry. Students from the hosting and visiting schools are welcome with student ID. No student ID, no entry. Students from any other schools/non-participating schools must be accompanied by an adult chaperone or they will be denied entrance.
Allow extra time for admission and entry. Increased security may mean lines are longer at the entrance gate. Please plan accordingly.
Entrance expectations- Football Games
Only students from CRHS and the opponent's school will be allowed into the game.
CRHS students must enter through the student gate on the East end of the stadium and have a student ID ready to show at entry. Students may not bring guests from other schools.
Elementary and middle school students must enter through the Main Gate
- Spectators will be charged to enter games through the end of the 1st half and no spectators will be allowed entry after the start of the second half. Please share this information with those attending so they can plan accordingly.
Plan for parent/guardian chaperones in accordance with district guidelines to monitor student activity and behavior.
The student-to-adult chaperone ratio is 2:1 for middle and elementary school students.
Adult chaperones are expected to monitor their student’s behavior and not leave the stadium without their students- all middle school students must sit with their parents/chaperones.
Adult chaperones and students who are unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the facility.
Students from any other schools/non-participating schools must also be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Get behind your team!
Spectators are expected to view the event in the appropriate designated seating area.
Students are expected to be supporting their classmates during events from the stands and not wandering in or around the event (e.g. behind bleachers, Fieldhouse, Mezzanine, etc). Of course students are allowed to purchase snacks from the concession stands but are expected to return to the stands immediately afterwards.
Leave extra items at home or in your vehicle.
Backpacks, large bags/purses and outside food or drink (if concessions are sold on-site) are not allowed and school staff will not supervise or hold belongings.
Anoka-Hennepin prohibits weapons, alcoholic beverages, e-cigarettes / vaping, tobacco products and controlled substances.
Powders and/or airborne irritants prohibited
Students who introduce baby powder or other airborne irritants at events will be removed from the activity and are subject to disciplinary action consistent with district policy. Powders are a health risk and they are prohibited at all events.
Students must have a scheduled ride, or exit the grounds, at the conclusion of the event
Spectators who are unwilling or unable to follow the rules, regulations, or directions from event staff may be asked to leave the event and not be refunded.

Select “family login.”
Proceed to complete back-to-school forms for the 2026-27 school year.
Why it matters: It’s important that each family completes the verification process and the online back-to-school forms before the first day of school. Verification ensures that each student’s school has confirmed emergency contact information and releases for the safety of each student.
What’s in it for you: Even if families’ contact information has not changed, it’s important to log in to access a variety of other student information in the coming weeks, including:
Class schedules and teacher assignments.
Transportation information, if relevant.
Receive additional educational benefits, discounts and reduced fees.
High school students will not be able to enroll in fall activities until the back to school verification process is complete.
Anywhere, on-the-go: Families may complete the verification on their own time, whenever it’s convenient. If you prefer to utilize the ParentVUE mobile app to access your student’s information, please note that the app has been updated.
Read more about downloading the updated version of ParentVUE.
Questions? Contact your child’s school for assistance.
Build, Design, Drive: Join the Robotics Team!
The CRHS Robotics Team is looking for students passionate about designing, building, marketing, and driving a robot in competitions. Robotics involves programming, electrical work, and building. But they also need students to design social media posts, create graphic art, manage budgets, and reach out to businesses for fundraising. Competitions are in March and a practice competition is in December.
The first meeting is Thursday, Sept 24 at 2:20 in Room 116 (the Wood Shop). Come check out what Robotics is all about!

Get Involved in Your High Schooler’s Journey!
Even as students grow more independent, involvement remains key to their success. Research highlights that high schoolers with connected families and caring community members achieve higher grades, build stronger social-emotional skills, and have a smoother transition into life after high school. Your time and support make a lasting impact on our school community!
To learn more about volunteer opportunities this year, please complete or update the CRHS Volunteer Application (required every new school year).
If you have questions about getting involved, please reach out to HSVolunteerServices@ahschools.us
Student Handbook & Policy Review
As we near the start of the school year, we want to share the link to the Anoka-Hennepin Student Handbook and Policies. The handbook covers the basics from school to activities to homework, and key policies approved by the School Board explaining how the district handles matters of conduct and discipline consistently and fairly. These represent important information for our students and families, so we wanted to be sure to provide you access for future reference.
