About HMH Module Assessments
At the end of every reading module, our students complete a Module Assessment that assesses their progress in English Language Arts with our district’s curriculum, HMH Into Reading. These assessments are 20 questions. Students read 2-3 passages about various topics related to the Module’s curriculum focus and then answer comprehension and grammar questions in addition to a short written response related to the unit’s taught skills.
.
Please note that the HMH curriculum spirals and each reading strategy we learn and use is taught repeatedly throughout the year. Students build stronger understanding through repeated exposure. We use a variety of assessments throughout the module to inform daily instruction. The results of module assessments help us to gauge student growth.
What are the benchmarks for student progress? How did my child score?
Below Level (0–64%)
On Level (65–79%)
Above Level (80–100%)
How can I support my child’s continued progress?
Read with your child, and encourage them to read a wide-variety of genres, including nonfiction. Read the Module Family Newsletter that is sent home at the beginning of each module! Check out books from the library to research more about that topic.
Access your child’s HMH test scores online through these instructions:

Peer Support Nomination Process: Helping Friends Feel Safe 🤝
Every fall, we ask students to help us keep our school a safe and welcoming place. This important initiative is called the Peer Support Nomination Process, and it’s a key part of our effort to prevent bullying.
What Is the Goal? The core goal of this anonymous survey is simple: to give every student the power to help a friend. By allowing students to confidentially identify peers they believe might be struggling or experiencing bullying, this process:
Empowers students to act even when they feel unsure how to step in directly.
Provides staff with vital information so we can reach out and offer support where it’s needed most.
Lost and Found
Call the front office if you notice an item that belongs to your child. It's also helpful if you put your child' name on items. We will need to donate many of these items on November 14 to make room. Please stop by during the day, on Election Day, or at the Walk-a-Thon on the 14th.
