Another Great Week in Ranger Country!
Good Afternoon, Ranger Families!
Our Rangers have demonstrated Ranger Strong behaviors, leadership, and a tremendous commitment to hard work throughout the week. It has been exciting to see students supporting one another, embracing challenges, and taking pride in being part of the Central High School community.
During orientation last week, we talked about what it means to SET THE STANDARD here at CHS. Our Rangers have shown us that they are ready to lead and to carry forward the excellence, pride, and tradition that make Central one of the top high schools in Michigan. Setting the standard is about the choices we make each day, how we treat others, how we approach our learning, and how we represent Ranger Country.
Thank you to our families for partnering with us and helping our students start the year strong. We are incredibly proud of our Rangers and excited for all that is ahead!
Have a safe, relaxing, and memorable Labor Day weekend!
Thank you for all you do,
Jon Haga

Progress/Feedback Reports
We have listened to you! In our district wide experience data, our families have expressed an interest in receiving more frequent feedback from our schools and teachers on how a student is learning in class. In order to provide this to you, CHS (and all secondary schools) will be sending you a feedback report on the third Friday of every month. The first feedback report will be sent next Friday, September 18, to your email addresses.
The primary piece of classroom feedback that is communicated to parents and families comes in the forms of grades. (Direct, qualitative, and immediately actionable feedback is provided to your student in class and through formative assessments.) The feedback you will receive next Friday will be just that, a snapshot grade of your student's learning in each class up to this point in the semester.
If you would like to receive more frequent communication and feedback on your students learning, you can access this information at any time by accessing PowerSchool. If you have any questions after receiving this feedback report, please contact your student's teacher.
SENIOR RETREAT!
Important: Please make sure that BOTH the Camp Henry Release Form and the FHC Medical Form are completed.
Click the link below to sign up by September 9th!
Lockers Now Available Upon Request!
A limited number of lockers are now available to students upon request. Students who would like a locker can complete the Google Form that was emailed to them.
Please remind them to submit their request as soon as possible, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Chromebooks
Daily vs. Long-term checkouts
We are noticing a large increase in daily checkouts in our Media Center. We will begin to prioritize our long term device needs and will be sending a form home with students to fill out in order to have a long term device. If requesting a long term device is not something you wish to do please begin to BYOD as per our district model at the HS level.
Introducing SchooLinks
Forest Hills has partnered with a new comprehensive college and career readiness platform called SchooLinks. SchooLinks is live through students Clever accounts and students are welcome to dive in and explore the program. There is no requirement to do so, however, each grade level will be onboarded during counselor visits this year. Twelfth grade students will be the first to onboard with SchooLinks as we will be using the platform to request transcripts.
BEFORE WE CAN BEGIN SENDING SENIOR TRANSCRIPTS:
In order for SchoolLinks to communicate with colleges and the Common Application, parents/guardians need to have their students log into SchooLinks to sign the FERPA waiver.
Once logged into SchooLinks via Clever, students need to: 1) Complete the Find Your Path exercise, 2) Access the college application manager and fill out their home address, and 3) Access the FERPA agreement. Under this section students will be prompted to sign a FERPA release which will allow transcripts (and letters of recommendation if required) to be shared with the colleges and universities your student indicates. This form requires a parent acknowledgement portion. What is the FERPA? Please see here for more information
