EJMS Families,

I hope everyone had a good week as we kicked off the month of March. We have had so much sickness among our students and staff recently; hoping that everyone begins to make health improvements!

ILP (Individual Learning Plan) Information for parents

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) mandates that all students in grades 6-12 complete their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) each year. Jessamine County Schools uses Major Clarity as the main platform used to achieve this goal. Each year, students are required to reach 100% completion for that school year’s ILP tasks. Major Clarity offers a wealth of information to help your student learn and explore information related to personality traits and learning styles as they may relate to future employment opportunities, along with details regarding career paths and occupations. Students this year have worked on their ILPs via Writing, Science, or Core Connections classes (based on their schedules). We encourage you to explore the attached information and ask your student to log into their Major Clarity account (via Clever) so they can show you what they have been working on this year. Feel free to reach out to your student’s grade level counselor for more information.

Insights Survey

The Technology Insights Survey opens Monday, March 2nd, and closes Friday, April 3rd. This year, the district is asking specific questions about Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The purpose of this survey is to inform our technology plans and EdTech initiatives across the district. By collecting feedback from various stakeholders, we can better understand how technology is perceived and used in our schools. This insight will enable us to provide better support for teachers and remove barriers for students, ultimately maximizing student learning through technology.

For all schools that meet 15% participation rate from parents, they will be entered to win additional funding for technology. Please help us meet this goal by taking a few minutes to complete this survey. Thank you!

Title 1 News Title 1 News

We wanted to share some reminders about our Title I School-Wide program.

Title I is one of the largest federal programs supporting elementary and secondary education. Title I funding allows us to provide resources to students. These supplemental resources help ensure that:

• All children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education,

• Support and resources are provided to achieve proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and assessments.

At East Jessamine Middle, we use our Title I funding to provide

  • additonal classroom teachers to lower class sizes
  • technology devices and software for student and staff use
  • High Quality Instructional Resources to aid in student learning and critical thinking

Please reach out if you have any further questions about our Title I program.

We are starting to prepare for our Culture Fair on March 24th. I'd love for you to participate with that if you are interested. For many of our students it is a highlight of their year. We have lots of fun and would love to include you in that. Besides the event for our students during the day, there will also be an evening Cultural Celebration for our families to share food and fun times together. So be on the lookout for more information about that in the next few weeks in this newsletter and other school social media.

Please remember that if you have any questions or concerns you can reach out to me at 859-887-6749 or through ParentSquare or email. Have a great week!
