A Letter from Mr. Savage

  • Our FFA Chapter has had some success over the past few weeks and our competitors need a well- deserved pat on the back! Our Livestock judging team placed 4th at Onaga. A-Team members included Dustin Denton, Anna Brungardt, Kinsley Gillig, Kynadee Bishop and Lawson Stryker. Dustin Denton earned 3rd place in individual honors. Our B-Team included Kinze Wessel, Josie Parker, Nora Parker and Callie Schmidt. Our Ag. Business and Ag. Communications teams also placed 4th in district competition last week. Our Ag. Business team members were Dustin Denton, Lawson Stryker and Dawson Vermetten. Dustin Denton was 7th and Lawson Stryker was 8th as individuals. Our Ag. Communications team was made up of Kynadee Bishop, Kinze Wessel, Jacqueline Sandoval and Isabella Smith. Congratulations to these FFA members and their advisor, Ms. Carrie Husband.

  • Senior Maggie Toerber participated in the Thunderbird All-Star Classic this past Sunday. Maggie led the Gold Team in scoring and was named as the Offensive MVP for the game. Maggie played for Team Ebert which won the contest by a comfortable margin. Congratulations Maggie!

Our Junior High Forensics students performed a play on the evening of April 18th. The students acted out three of Aesop’s Fables and did a fantastic job! Their performances were top notch! It is great to see the next group of acting talent move through the halls of Valley Heights! The students even had a special surprise for the audience at the end of the show – a dance number that was one for the ages! Congratulations to our students and their director – Mrs. Lynette Steele-Coon!

We have some big events coming up in the very near future so mark your calendars and join us if you can! On April 22nd we will be hosting our first track meet of the season. This is a Junior High track meet and we will start with field events at 1:00 pm. On April 24th we will host our annual high school Athletic Banquet. Tickets are required for this event! We will start with a catered meal followed by coaches’ comments for our sports programs and then an auction for some sports items. April 25th is the date set aside for Senior Night (5:30 pm start time) and the Forensics Showcase which starts at 7:00 pm. This is a great time to look for the work that the seniors have put into their portfolios and we follow this up with performances that have qualified for state! On April 29th we will host the National Honor Society Banquet and Induction Ceremony.

    Have a great week!
