A Note from PTO
Dear Families and Caregivers,
As we wrap up another school year, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make it a success.
We would like to offer a special thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff for their unwavering commitment, care, and hard work throughout the year. Your passion and dedication inspire our children every day. We also want to thank our parents and caregivers for your support, encouragement, and partnership. Whether you volunteered your time, attended school events, supported learning at home, donated to PTO initiatives, or simply cheered on your students each day, your involvement has made a meaningful difference in our school community.
As summer begins, we hope your family enjoys time to relax, recharge, and create lasting memories. While we celebrate all that we've accomplished this year, we are also looking ahead with excitement. The PTO is already planning for another fantastic year filled with opportunities to connect, support our school, and build community together.
As you enjoy your summer, we also ask for your help in welcoming our incoming 6th-grade families. If you know families who will be joining our school community next year, please consider sharing the PTO website and newsletter with them. These resources are a great way to learn about school events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to stay connected throughout the year. Helping new families connect with the PTO early can make their transition to middle school easier and help them feel part of our community from the start.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall and continuing the important work of making our school an outstanding place for students to learn and thrive.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school family. Have a safe, happy, and wonderful summer!
Warmly,
Lynnae Erwin, President
Mandi Rupp, President
Nia Anderson, Treasurer
Kerrin Flanagan, Secretary

SUN Bucks (formerly Summer EBT) Benefits
SUN Bucks (formerly Summer EBT) is a federally funded program that provides families of qualified school-aged children $120 during the summer months to purchase healthy foods while school is not in session.
SPPS in-person students who qualify for free or reduced eligibility will qualify for SUN Bucks. SPPS online students who are directly certified for free or reduced eligibility will also qualify. It is critical that the primary parent/guardian contact info in Campus is up to date in order to ensure that the benefit cards are mailed to the correct address.
If a student does not currently qualify for free or reduced eligibility, caregivers are encouraged to complete the Application for Educational Benefits by March 27 to see if they qualify. More info will be shared at spps.org/summerebt, including updates as more info about the program is available from the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Building Strong Readers Starts at Home
Looking for more ways to support reading at home? Be sure to explore the SPPS Virtual Library and visit the Saint Paul Public Library together. The resources below offer great opportunities to encourage a lifelong love of reading.
Free Summer Meals
Saint Paul Public Schools will provide meals at no cost to all children 18 and under, and those with a disability currently enrolled in a school program, this summer.
Kids and teens can enjoy a meal at more than 50 schools, recreation centers, libraries and community sites. The food truck will serve up burgers, sambusas, nachos, and other favorites at parks and community centers around Saint Paul.
Information about all community meal sites will be posted on the "Free Meals for Kids" app.
Created by Hunger Impact Partners, a 501(c)(3) with support from the Minnesota Department of Education to ensure children 18 and under can access nutritious meals, the sites you locate for food are updated regularly.
During the school year: The app lists information on programs that offer meals for children of low-income families. The meals are available at childcare centers and after-school programs. The app also lists weekend and holiday backpack programs, which are available at some school sites, in addition to food offered by hunger-relief organizations.
During summer: The app lists sites serving free meals during June, July, and August
Year-round: The app lists Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota locations of Fare For All, which sells fresh produce and frozen meat at up to 40 percent off retail prices.
Serving Sites: Contains sites and information across the state where families and children can access meals.
Map: Provides a visual image of where sites are located. Touch a red map pin and learn more about a specific meal site.
Food Options: Shows sample menus for meals served.
Messages: Alerts provided regarding important information, site updates, and community resources.
Resources: Lists community resources for meal access.
Info: Provides contact email, resources links, and site sharing.

The Murray Market
As we look ahead to summer, we'd like to share an important update about the Murray Market. During the final weeks of the school year, we will be working to reduce our current inventory. This will allow our building engineers to thoroughly clean the space over the summer and help prevent stored items from attracting pests while the building is closed.
The Murray Market will return next school year. If you would like your student to access the market, please contact your student's social worker at the beginning of the school year for more information and they will be added to the shopping schedule. The market will be open two days a week during Foundations hour. The PTO will continue to support the Murray Market by providing volunteers to supervise shopping times, organize the inventory and by allocating funds to purchase high-demand grocery and household items.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Murray Market this year. We look forward to continuing this valuable resource for our students and families next year.
**If you or your family is in need of support, resources or information please contact your student's school councilor and they will help to connect you with the support you need.**
Spirit Wear
Murray spirit wear is still available for purchase through our showroom at Thread Art. Orders can be shipped directly to your home for a fee, or you may choose free pickup at the store. For an additional no-cost option, the PTO will periodically pick up orders and deliver them to the school—perfect if you are not in a hurry. Be sure to browse the latest selections, including our special Murray 100th Anniversary shirts, a wonderful way to celebrate this milestone year while showing your school spirit!
