A Message from your Principal A Message from your Principal

Dear EEA students and families,

Thank you so much for the kind words many of you sent my way while I was off on medical leave. I am happy to be back!

As we finish up this semester, I wanted to remind you all of the policy on class completion. Students must complete their classes according to their due dates (semester if they started at the beginning of the year). In unusual circumstances, they may request an extension of up to 3 weeks. Those extensions will not be granted if students have not been using their time wisely. If not completed, the class will be entered on their transcript as a failing grade. The student can replace that grade by taking the exact same class over to replace the grade. Parents, please encourage your students to finish strong!

As we keep working on our Rebuilding Plan to ensure that EEA continues years beyond our upcoming contract renewal at the end of the 25-26 year, we will be looking for parent feedback on a number of things. We are hopeful that many of you will be willing to engage with us on this important work, whether it is via a survey or a short meeting. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season,

Dr. Young

We are excited to invite you to our December Family Engagement Night on December 12th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.! We know this is an especially busy month for families with children in school, so we’re trying an earlier time to hopefully make it easier for you.

This event will be a wonderful opportunity for you, your children, and us to come together and engage in fun, meaningful activities that support our school community.

Here’s what we have planned:

  • Sub Sandwiches and Chips: Enjoy a meal with your family.

  • Crystal-Making Activity: A hands-on, creative project led by Mrs. Zimmermann that you won’t want to miss!

  • Card-Making Station: Help spread some seasonal cheer by making cards for nursing home residents and veterans in our area. Your support means a lot to these individuals, especially during this time of year.

You are vital to the success of our students. Your involvement not only strengthens the connection between home and school, but also benefits the students and us. We enjoyed meeting with you last month, deeply value your participation, and look forward to seeing you on December 12th!

Please let us know if you plan to attend by Dec 10th. Your presence will make this event even more special, and we can’t wait to share this time with you.

Warmly,

EEA Learning Academy staff

Important information from Health Services Important information from Health Services

Important health information from Health Services for the 2024-2025 school year. Please update any new health information on the online request form, so accurate health information is received. Please review the following information about medication during the school day. OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS are available during the school day. The Wausau School District will supply generic ibuprofen and generic regular strength acetaminophen (Tylenol) for students in high school. WSD personnel will only administer the recommended therapeutic dose of the non-prescription medication. Also available is the medication consent form. This form is used for daily prescription medication or over-the-counter medication other than generic ibuprofen or acetaminophen (i.e., tums, allergy medication etc.). Both forms along with specialized forms for Allergy Action Plan, Seizure Action Plan, Asthma Action Plan and Special Dietary Request forms may be found on the Wausau School District website www.wausauschools.org under department, then health services. Blank or completed copies of these forms can be picked up/dropped off any time during the school year at the East Health Office.

Medication must be kept in the health office. Students are not allowed to have medication (prescription or over the counter) with them during the school day with the exception of: Diabetic supplies, EpiPens and Inhalers. Medication is required to be brought in by a parent/guardian. Medication may be dropped off in the health office between the hours of 7:15-3:15.

Please follow up with your healthcare provider or Marathon County Health Dept. On your child’s immunization requirements. This link for the Marathon County Health Dept. will give updated clinic dates, immunization requirements and a link to the Wisconsin Immunization Registry to view your child’s immunization record: https://www.marathoncounty.gov/services/public-health-human-services/immunizations

If you have any questions or concerns about any information, please contact the East Health Office.

EEA Resources EEA Resources

It is our goal to help connect our families with things they may need. We all fall on hard times occasionally. If there are things that we can connect you with, please let Mrs. Nilles (snilles@wausauschools.org) our school social worker know. Her job is to connect our families with resources. This can be anything from a bed for a child, to regular grocery supplies. Please, let us help! If you are worried that asking for these things will lead to issues for you, please do not worry! We are simply wanting to assist if possible.

Students were provided with information regarding school safety in the past week. They were introduced to the SUSO app to report any concerns, as well as crime stoppers.

  1. Classroom doors are to be kept closed and locked at all times.

  2. Look out the window to recognize the person before letting them enter the classroom.

  3. Anyone leaving the room should knock quietly when they return to the room

  4. If the student or staff does not feel safe in opening the door. Keep the door shut.

  5. Understand, if you are escalated, the people in the classroom do not need to open the door.

  6. If you do not feel safe opening the door, talk to the staff member(s) in the room.

  7. Students and Staff will take turns with door duty.

  8. The best ways to prevent a tragedy is to prepare, be aware and report concerns.

  9. We have provided multiple anonymous ways to report concerns.

  10. School safety is everyone’s responsibility.

If families have an URGENT concern to report, please call 911 before the school. They will likely have a faster response time.
