Hello! My name is Mr. Klein and I am the pop/rock music teacher at WHS. I'm psyched to get back to making music with your students, it's been a fun summer, but the walls of Moxley room 129 have been too long without the shaking of rock and roll. What better way to kick off the school year than with music? The leaves are starting to get colorful and crispy, air is getting chilly and football is back on Victory Field and our TVs. I'm excited to share what your students have been up to in their classes and share some music for the autumn season!

After studying the form, practicing some 7th chords and listening to some Joplin, Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Chapman, etc. guitar students are taking a crack at writing their own blues based on what's frustrating them. Check out this student's work below!

After mastering the classic back beat that is used in rock and roll, hip-hop and, pop students are taking a look at these other drum patterns for reggaeton music, and songs in triple meter. You can check out these rhythm charts below to test your hand-to-hand-to-leg coordination

In collaboration with the WHS spirit committee, the new course, Advanced modern music ensemble (under the band name Raid at Dawn) will be playing a set at the high school's homecoming dance. With songs from Bowie, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys and more! Check out this short clip of I Wanna Be Yours by the Arctic Monkeys!

Using vocal stems from over 25 songs students manipulated audio and composed new backing tracks to make these songs sound like new. Check out this remix of Runaway by Miko Badalyan!
