A Message from the Principal, Dr. Martinez
Dear Lobo Families,
We are officially in full swing for the second semester. As February arrives and Valentine’s Day decorations begin to appear, I want to take a moment to spotlight our “Lobo Heart" which is the pulse that drives everything we do here at Langham Creek.
At its core, the Lobo Heart represents the deep care we have for our students. Every decision made on this campus is centered on their betterment. Whether it is showing compassion for a student catching up on work after an illness or patiently reminding a Lobo to wear their ID badge for the twentieth time that day, our actions are rooted in wanting the absolute best for our students.
We believe that when we lead from a place of care and commitment, everything else falls into place.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
Sincerely,
Dr. Martinez
CFISD District Updates
What is CCMR?
College, Career, & Military Readiness (CCMR) equips students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for life beyond high school, whether they choose higher education, a career, or military service. Through a variety of resources, curriculum, and activities, CCMR ensures students are well-prepared for their next steps. Engaging in collegiate-level work during high school boosts their chances of college enrollment and degree attainment, leading to higher lifetime earnings. Additionally, earning college credits in high school can significantly reduce tuition costs, making higher education more accessible.
What does it mean to be College, Career, or Military Ready?
- College Ready: Graduates will not have to take remedial classes in college, thus saving time and money!
- Career Ready: Graduates have the essential skills to find, acquire, maintain, and grow within a career. They can also enroll in additional postsecondary training without the need for remediation.
- Military Ready: Graduates have committed to enlistment with the United States military. Proof of enlistment (DD Form 4) must be turned into the campus.
What are the benefits to students who are CCMR Ready?
Students with CCMR Ready status may...
- SAVE TIME & MONEY
Graduates will not have to take remedial classes in college! - FIND, ACQUIRE, MAINTAIN & GROW WITHIN A CAREER
Students have the essential skills to embark on a meaningful career after graduation. Career ready graduates can also enroll in additional postsecondary training without the need for remediation. - CHOOSE TO ENLIST IN THE MILITARY
Graduates are prepared if they choose to commit to enlistment with the United States military.

Updates from the Director of Instruction
HAC and Grades
Regularly checking your student's grades is a simple yet powerful way to stay involved in their education. It helps you catch potential issues early, celebrate their successes, and have meaningful conversations about their progress. By viewing your student's grades in HAC to stay informed, you can provide the support they need to succeed and help them develop important habits for future academic success.
Take Advantage of Redo and Retest Opportunities
Each marking period, students have valuable opportunities to strengthen their understanding and improve their grades through redo and retest options. These opportunities are available in all three grading categories: Checking for Understanding, Relevant Application, and Summative Assessments.
Redo and retest opportunities are designed to support learning — not just to raise a grade, but to ensure mastery of key concepts and skills. When students take the time to review feedback, make corrections, and demonstrate growth, they build stronger academic habits and deeper understanding.
Students should check with their teachers for the specific process and deadlines for redos and retests in each class. Taking initiative and following through on these opportunities can make a meaningful difference in both learning and achievement.
Testing Reminders for Student Success
As testing season approaches, please be on the lookout for important testing emails from the school. These messages include key dates, schedules, and reminders that help ensure a smooth testing experience for students and families.
In Texas, passing five STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams is part of the state’s graduation requirements for high school students. To earn a diploma, students must meet the passing standard on these assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History.
Families can help students feel prepared by encouraging them to:
-
Bring a fully charged Chromebook and their charger on test days
-
Get a good night’s sleep before testing
-
Eat a healthy breakfast to stay focused and energized
Thank you for partnering with us to help students feel confident and ready to do their best on testing days!

Langham Creek High School will administer the school-day SAT for all juniors on March 25. This is a district-wide benefit provided to students at no cost to families; only 11th-grade students are eligible for this opportunity.
SAT accommodations are not automatically extended to students who receive supports through an IEP or 504 plan. Accommodations must be requested through College Board, and the school cannot submit those requests without written parent/guardian permission.
Families who do not wish for their student to participate in the school-day SAT may also request to opt out.
Please contact our testing coordinator, Janel Tortorice, to obtain any of the necessary forms or with any questions at janel.tortorice@cfisd.net.

CFISD Virtual Pathways 2026-2027 School Year- Application Deadline Approaching
ONLINE LEARNING, REDEFINED.
CFISD Virtual Pathways provides online learning options that stand out from the rest. So many online programs provide a one-size-fits all, impersonal approach that leaves students isolated and on-their-own. We believe that virtual education should prioritize relationships, engagement, and responsiveness.
Our program is fundamentally different because we focus on creating a supportive, engaging, and responsive academic community.
CFISD will have three virtual options:
1. Virtual Academy
Full-time, dedicated online learning experience.
2. Flex Learning
Students spend most of their day on campus for face-to-face instruction while choosing up to two courses to take online, allowing them to come in up to two periods late or leave up to two periods early each day.
3. Supplemental Courses
Students take up to two additional courses outside of their regular school day to get ahead, make up a credit, or make room for an elective.
For more information, visit virtual.cfisd.net or email VirtualPathways@cfisd.net.
Psychological Service Spring Parenting Classes
The Psychological Services Department is hosting our Spring parenting class series for parents of elementary aged students and a separate series for parents of adolescent age students at the Berry Center, Tuesdays, February 24th and March 3rd from 6-7:30pm. The classes build off of each other so attendance at both sessions is recommended. You can find details and registration links for both sessions on our webpage also https://www.cfisd.net/departments/psychological-services/parent-resources .
On the first night February 24, 2026 there will also be a Hidden in Plain Sight Demonstration lead by Bobbie Jones CFISD’s Substance Use Awareness & Prevention Counselor for parents of both sessions to view.
Senior Survey
Due to recent legislative changes, students and parents must “opt in” to participate in the Senior Survey that is distributed in late Spring. This survey is important because students request their “free final transcript” through this link. Please log in to the PARENT Home Access Center Portal, click “Senior Survey” and opt in to participate so that your student does not miss this opportunity. See screenshots below for reference.

Updates from the Assistant Principal's Office
Tardy Sweeps & Instructional Time
To support student success and protect valuable instructional time, our campus will begin conducting both announced and unannounced tardy sweeps throughout the school day. When students arrive late to class, they miss critical instruction that cannot always be recreated, which can impact learning and achievement.
Students who are caught in a tardy sweep will be issued a consequence. Students who attempt to run, hide, or avoid staff during a tardy sweep will receive a more severe consequence.
We ask for your partnership in speaking with your child about the importance of being on time and present in class—all day, every day. Being punctual helps ensure students are fully engaged, prepared, and set up for success.
Student Code of Conduct/Student Handbook Feedback Form
The district is currently seeking parent and community input on the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook. The feedback window is open from December 9th through February 6th. We encourage you to take a few moments to share your thoughts and suggestions.
The feedback form is available on the district website and will also be shared through district social media. You can access the form directly using the link below:
Your voice matters, and your input helps strengthen our school community. Thank you for your participation!
