A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear PES community,

Happy Valentine’s Day and 100th day of school! ♥️ We are so excited to celebrate positive behavior, student kindness, the 100th day of school and Valentine’s Day at school!

Celebrations 🎉

Students in grade two traveled to the Maine Maritime Museum last week to learn about ships used one hundred to two hundred years ago to transport goods. They learned what cargo was and why it was important to ship things to different places. They also looked at old ships and worked as a class to build one. Then they compared and contrasted cargo ships from the past to the present and looked at a live map of all the ships in the water all over the world to see the amount and types of ships in the ocean.

Kindness week was a great experience for students at PES. We had fun talking about kindness, completing kind acts, and working hard to fill our buckets with smiley face stickers. We learned about what it means to be a bucket filler and about how important it is to fill others buckets. We hope this week will serve as a reminder to all our students about the importance of treating others with kindness.

Thank you! 🙏

Thank you to Hawkes tree service for their generous donation of tree stump seats and tree cookies. A few students from HW club had a great time watching the live action as Hawkes’ employees chopped up two trees for us on sight. We are excited to use these this spring in our outdoor classroom.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week off from school next week. We will see you back at PES on February 24th.

Warm regards,

Nina Willette, Principal
