New Parent Orientation - August 12th 5:30pm
We will provide important information to orient yourself as the year begins. We are designing this presentation for 6th grade parents & all new families. This event is intended for parents/guardians only.
Peacock Preview - August 13th 9:30am - 10:30am
All students in 6th grade and in 7th or 8th grade that are new to Peacock are invited to attend Peacock Preview on Thursday, August 13th. Students will have the opportunity to learn about Peacock Middle School, tour the school, and pick-up their schedule. All schedules will be posted electronically in TeacherEase on Friday, August 14th. If your student is unable to attend this event, materials can be picked up in the front office on the first day of school. This event is only for students.
Supply Drop Off
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we'd like to share an important update regarding school supplies. Benson, Franzen & Peacock will not be hosting a School Supply Drop-Off event for students in Grades 1–8 this year. Instead, students are encouraged to bring their school supplies with them on the first day of school.
We understand this is a change from previous years, and we recognize that changes to familiar routines can sometimes create questions or concerns for families. Please know that our staff has planned for this transition and will be ready to support students every step of the way. Teachers have built time into the first day to help students unpack, organize their supplies, and get comfortably settled into their classrooms. Our goal is to make the process smooth, welcoming, and stress-free for both students and families.
If your child has a larger item or several bags of supplies, our staff will be available to assist as students arrive. We appreciate your flexibility and partnership as we implement this new process and are confident that our students will be off to a great start.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another fantastic school year!

Math Courses
Peacock utilizes the HMH Into Math Curriculum in grades 6-8. This curriculum provides multiple pathways to accelerate and remediate student learning. You will find your child's math class on their finalized schedule in TeacherEase. Students were placed in courses based on their math performance on the iReady assessment, Illinois Assessment of Readiness, and progress in the previous grade level's math curriculum. Below is a brief description of each course. More information will be shared at Peacock's Curriculum Night.
Lunch Spaces
Students will have the opportunity to sit in small groups with peers and socialize, complete school work, or read if they finish their lunch before the period ends. Your child's lunch assignment will be reflected on their finalized schedule. ** Lunch assignments will rotate throughout the school year with student feedback**
- Lunchroom assignments will be also shared with student schedules
- Lunchrooms assignments will be alphabetically split between lunchrooms to begin our school year
- Students will be surveyed at the start of school to give feedback on which friends they’d like to sit with
- Lunchroom assignments & seating arrangements will rotate throughout the 26-27 school year

Meet the Principal - Mr. Taylor
This school year is my 14th year in District 10. I started in the District as a Franzen Intermediate School principal, and then had the opportunity to serve as Benson Primary School principal before becoming the proud Principal of Peacock last summer. When not at Peacock Middle, I enjoy spending time with my wife and sons. The staff, students, parents, community truly make District 10 the most amazing place to be. It is an honor to serve as your principal, and I look forward to partnering with you to make it a successful year for your child. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or needs. It's going to be a great school year!

Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up Route
To prioritize and ensure the safety of all students, we kindly request that students who are walking, biking, or being dropped off at school should not arrive before 7:30 AM. This is in place to provide a secure and supervised environment for students as they arrive on campus. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this schedule.
Schedule & Bus Information
Student schedules will be made available on TeacherEase Friday (8/14/26) at 3:30 pm. Any 6th grader or new student who attended Peacock Preview will receive a paper copy of their schedule. Paper copies will be available on the first day of school.
All bus route information will be available in Teacherease.
As the year begins please know it is normal for your route to be delayed and we have a service to help you be notified if there is a delay.
Health Office Information
If you need to update us on your child's medical, dietary, or any other health needs, you can reach out to Nurse Ciero. Please drop-off any necessary medication for your child before August 19th.
Ms. Michelle Ciero at mciero@itasca10.org
REMINDER:
All students are required by State Law to obtain a physical examination or provide religious exemption signed from a licensed physician prior to entrance into 6th grade and middle school athletics. Also with participation in school athletics, a sports physical needs to be complete and an IHSA Concussion Acknowledgment & Consent Form needs to be electronically submitted. Please review all Health Requirements needed for your student(s) in the links. Transfer students are allowed thirty days to comply with this requirement.
Friendly reminder that all students interested in trying out for a school sport, playing a sport, or participating in intramurals must have an up to date sports physical. This is a separate document from a typical wellness physical. Summer is a great time to have this completed! Print the document below for your physician.
