Notes From Administration Notes From Administration

Dear TMS Families,

The changing of the clocks always signals a time of transition at our school. Fall sports are wrapping up, and sign-ups for winter sports are officially open. Academically, Trimester 1 ends at the end of the month, making now a great time to check in with your child to make sure all their schoolwork is completed before report cards go home. The end of the month also brings a shift to new Unified Arts classes for many students. Finally, for families looking ahead, Tyngsborough High School is hosting a Parent Informational Night on November 19th (more information below). This evening will give parents a chance to connect directly with THS administration about high school offerings.

Regards,

Brian and Jim

Tyngsborough High School Information Night Tyngsborough High School Information Night

Tyngsborough High School invites middle school parents and guardians to attend an Information Night on Thursday, November 19th at 6:30 PM in the THS Auditorium. This event will provide an overview of all that THS has to offer, including the Program of Studies, career pathways, athletics, clubs and activities, college and career opportunities, travel opportunities, and academic achievements and student success. 8th grade students will receive this presentation during the school day on November 17th. While the evening presentation is intended for parents and guardians, students are welcome to attend. Interested 7th grade students and their families are also encouraged to attend to learn more about the opportunities available at THS.

Athletics Athletics

Middle School Football - The Tyngsboro Tigers closed out their season with a tough 21-20 loss to Narragansett in a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire. Tiger Leemarpilab had a huge day, finding the end zone three times, including a 60-yard reception from QB Jax Janco and touchdown runs of 48 and 58 yards. He also scored the Tigers’ only two-point conversion and hauled in a 30-yard reception on the final drive. Defensively, Jackson Fox recorded a sack and added multiple tackles for loss, while Dragon Leemarpilab chipped in with a tackle for loss and approximately 30 yards rushing.

Congrats to every player that contributed, battled, and left it all on the field. We're proud of the way these Tigers competed and represented Tyngsboro all season long!

Seal of Biliteracy Seal of Biliteracy

As part of the ongoing effort to promote bilingualism and proficiency in World Languages, the Tyngsborough Public Schools will continue to offer the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy to our graduating seniors. We want to inform all families of this opportunity for distinction upon graduation from Tyngsborough Public Schools. A student who meets the requirements will have the State Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma and on their transcript.

To earn the State Seal of Biliteracy, students must demonstrate proficiency in English AND a second language.

Massachusetts Graduation Requirements for the Class of 2027

To graduate, students in the Class of 2027 must meet all graduation requirements and satisfy one of the following English proficiency criteria:

  • Option 1: Earn a score of Meeting Expectations or Exceeding Expectations on the Grade 10 English Language Arts (ELA) MCAS.

  • Option 2: Earn a score of Partially Meeting Expectations on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS and meet English language proficiency standards on the WIDA ACCESS assessment taken during high school.

  • Option 3: Earn the minimum score or level on a nationally recognized, readily available English proficiency assessment approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

To demonstrate proficiency in a language other than English during their senior year at Tyngsborough High School, students will be invited to test for a seal in a language other than English. Students who attain the level of at least Intermediate-High of the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, published by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, will meet the second language criteria for the State Seal of Biliteracy.

This seal serves to identify students who are proficient in a second language. For universities and employers, it attests to the candidate’s high level of communication skills. Because of the value that the Seal of Biliteracy offers high school graduates, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has joined almost all other states in the nation in implementing the seal. General information about the Seal of Biliteracy can be accessed here. Information specific to our Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy supported by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education can be accessed here.

We are excited to continue to offer this opportunity for our students and share in their language acquisition success.
