Principal's Weekly Update
Week of September 15-19
Administrator's Message 🐾
Dear Wildcat Families,
I want to take a moment to address an important aspect of our school culture: ensuring all students feel safe, respected, and supported throughout their day. Recently, we've observed an increase in behaviors such as playfighting and roughhousing, which, while often intended as harmless fun, can quickly escalate into real conflict. To prevent injuries and misunderstandings, we are emphasizing the importance of students keeping their hands to themselves at all times.
Additionally, we are working with students to help them better understand the line between joking and being unkind. What may seem like a joke to one student can feel hurtful or offensive to another. There is no place in our school for violence, inflammatory language, or derogatory comments of any kind. Every student deserves a learning environment free from physical or verbal harm.
We ask for your partnership in reinforcing these values at home. Please talk with your child about respectful boundaries, the impact of their words and actions, and the importance of kindness and empathy in their daily interactions.
Together, we can help our students build a school community based on mutual respect and care.
-Ms. Rivera & Ms. Rockwell
Resources for Families
Respect vocabulary: Work on phrases and sentences that help with expressing boundaries:
-
“Please stop, that makes me uncomfortable.”
-
“I don’t like being touched there.”
-
“I know you’re joking, but that hurts.”

Cat Corner - Donations Needed!
Our student store called the "Cat Corner" is returning! The store will be open once a month for students to purchase various items using their PBIS ROAR points. We will be open for the first time on Tuesday, September 30th. We are looking for donations to get out store up and running. If you are able to donate treats, or small toys that would be greatly appreciated. You can drop off the donations to the front office. Please just mark them for Cat Corner.
GATE Testing/Screening Referrals
GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) testing for the 2025–2026 school year will take place November 5–14, 2025.
2nd Grade: All 2nd grade students will be screened for GATE through the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability test unless families return an opt-out letter (mailed mid-September, due back by October 24).
Grades 3–7: Students may be tested again if referred by a parent/guardian. To request GATE screening for your student through the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test, please complete the GATE Test Referral Form by October 10. If your student is referred by a teacher or staff member, you will also receive an opt-out letter. Please return the form to your child’s school only if you do not want your student to be tested.
