Dear LISD Families,
As we embark on the second nine weeks of the school year, I want to thank you for your partnership in making this a fantastic start to the school year. Thank you to the families who have already submitted their back-to-school forms. We are now at 88% complete! If you are still finishing yours up, please take a moment to complete them as soon as possible, as we need that up-to-date information for our school teams.
The month of October is Principal Appreciation Month and it has been wonderful celebrating our campus leaders. If a principal, teacher, or staff member has made a positive impact on your child, I encourage you to share a quick word of thanks through our Recognize SomeONE initiative; those notes mean so much to them.
Every day across LISD, our students give us so many reasons to celebrate. From top ratings in fine arts and state athletic competitions to daily classroom breakthroughs, our students continue to show why LISD is the One Choice for learning, growth, and opportunity.
In this newsletter, you will find a few important updates and opportunities to stay involved. First, please take a few minutes to complete our district parent survey to share your perspective. Additionally, as election season continues, we encourage you to tune into the upcoming Candidate Forum hosted by the LISD Council of PTAs to learn more about the candidates on the ballot.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in the education of your children.
Dr. Lori Rapp, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Serving Up Smiles at TECC-West
On Thursdays throughout the school year — TECC-West transforms into a fully functional restaurant and café, with students in the Culinary Arts Program running every aspect.
Over the summer, the program received accreditation from the American Culinary Federation — making it one of only three accredited programs in the entire state at the high school level!
This accreditation allows the program to offer more certifications to help better prepare students from across the district to confidently step into the culinary workforce after graduation. [Read the full story]
