Fairview Park City School District Staff Spotlight
We’re excited to bring back our Fairview Park City School District Staff Spotlight! Each week, we’ll shine a light on the amazing people who make our schools such a special place. This week, it's Mayer Middle School 7th Grade Science Teacher Erin Frank!
How long have you worked at the Fairview Park City Schools?
15 years
What is your favorite part about working in the Fairview Park City Schools?
The people! I have made lifelong friends, gotten to work with incredible students who make me laugh and help me learn new things every day, and have been blown away by the dedication from the community.
What is your favorite book, movie, or TV show?
I love to read, so it's hard to choose, but a favorite since I was young is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I really enjoy watching old episodes of Dr. Who!
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
The top two places on my bucket list currently are Japan and Ireland.
Who was your favorite teacher growing up and why?
My middle school social studies teacher, Mrs. Steele, was not only an outstanding educator who made learning fun, she also was my inspiration to become a teacher. I was lucky enough to be in classes with her for four years and I find myself referencing her class in my own classes today. Her passion and enthusiasm for her subject area and for helping students made her truly stand apart from the rest. Kathy Steele is like no other and I am beyond grateful for her influence in my life.
What is one of your favorite memories from Fairview?
There are too many to count, but I have a special place in my heart for the Class of 2024. They began middle school in my 6th grade social studies class, moved up with me to 7th grade science, and then I had the privilege of being one of their class advisors throughout high school. Watching them walk across the stage at graduation was a very special moment and it was a joy to watch them grow up and do such amazing things!
What is your favorite go-to snack or treat?
I am constantly making popcorn at home.
