This morning’s arrival was extra special, as our JES Fire Poster Contest winners got to ride to school on a fire engine! Congratulations to our talented winners:

According to the Hull Fire Department, this is one of their favorite days of the year. They always look forward to sorting through the incredibly creative posters, and admit that choosing the winners is never easy.

Just a few reminders as we head into the weekend: Tomorrow is Picture Retake Day, so please be sure your child is prepared if they need their photo redone. Most importantly, tomorrow night is the annual Jacobs Halloween Dance!

• JES Dance: 5:00–6:30 p.m. — Students must be accompanied by an adult (not a drop-off event).

• JMS Dance: 7:00–8:30 p.m. — Drop-off event for middle school students.

A big thank you to the PTO for hosting the JES dance, and to the 7th Grade Parent Group for organizing and hosting the JMS Dance in an effort to fundraise for their children’s end-of-year celebration.

The Halloween celebration continues next Friday, October 31, when all students in grades PreK–7 are invited to dress up for Halloween. (Students are not invited to wear their Halloween Dance costumes to school tomorrow.) Please review the dress-up expectations below.

Lastly, a reminder that next Wednesday is an early release day (11:55).

Big News! December 23rd will now be a half day. PreK students will dismiss at 11:00 a.m., and students in grades K–7 will dismiss at 11:25 a.m. Lunch will not be served and there will be no after school childcare.

We know that for various reasons some families may need additional support with gifts and/or clothing this holiday season, and we are here to help! If you would like to be included in our Holiday Giving Program and are not participating in another gift program, please click on this link to sign up. Please complete one form for each child you'd like to receive gifts. (Once you’ve completed the form for one child, click on the link again to sign up another.) Children must be registered by Monday, November 17, to give our donors time to shop. Participation in the program is kept confidential by the counseling department, and gift donors do not know who the recipients will be. In collaboration with the Hull Board of Health, the influenza vaccine is now available to the students/staff/siblings/parents/guardians at Jacobs School. If you would like your child to receive the vaccine at school, please complete the online registration by clicking on the following link https://home.color.com/vaccine/walk-up/hull/jacobs-elementary-school or by using the QR code to the right. Once you complete the online registration, the nurse will call parent/guardian to set a date and time to call student to the nurse's office and give them the flu vaccine.

The Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) for the injection influenza vaccine is in this document.
