FFA STAR FINALISTS

Let's hear it for our Mineral Point FFA Chapter State participants in Madison!

Our Wisconsin Star Finalists were recognized on the stage Wednesday night at the Fifth General Session of The Wisconsin State FFA Convention.

- The Star Awards are for the highest placing individuals that receive their State FFA Degree for the year with only 10 making the finals in each category out of a possible 400 state degree recipients. We had three from Mineral Point make the Top 10 in the State, a remarkable achievement!

- In Star Placement, Luke Schubert was State Runner-Up and Annie Robinson was 7th overall. Luke's Star Placement was based on his work on Schubert Farms over his FFA career. Annie's Placement was based on her work on A&M farms, Military Ridge Veterinary Service, and Aspen Ridge Garden Center over her FFA Career.

- In Star Farmer, Ellie Robinson placed 6th overall. Ellie's Star Farmer is based on her ownership and management of her beef and goat herd, as well as her flock of sheep.

It was a great convention with Mineral Point FFA being recognized on stage at several sessions. Congratulations to all.

FFA WASHINGTON LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Mineral Point FFA Chapter members Kylie Bennett, Aiden Patterson, and Emily Heisner had a great time at the Washington Leadership Conference this past week!

WLC inspires FFA members to become changemakers in their communities. Each day of the conference focuses on a different principle taught through the context of our nation’s capital. These principles include exploration, encouragement, advocacy, and service. At the end of the week, members leave with a Living to Serve Plan they can implement in their communities.

NATIONAL SKILLS USA COMPETITION

Best wishes to Addie Burris who is off to Atlanta this week to compete in Cosmetology at the National Skills USA Competition! Addie is the State Champion in this event and we know she will represent #PointerNation with pride!

FIRST RESPONDER COMMUNICATION DRILLS

Iowa County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Mineral Point School District for allowing us to conduct radio communication drills within your school building. These exercises are crucial in helping our teams understand and overcome the communication challenges presented by large structures, particularly those constructed with concrete/brick.

This hands-on training gave our officers and partners the opportunity to test radio functionality in real-world conditions, improving our preparedness for emergency situations.

We were proud to be joined by:

Mineral Point Police Department

Mineral Point EMS

Dodgeville Police Department

Avoca Police Department

Highland Police Department

Iowa County Tech Rescue

Iowa County Emergency Management

Upland Hills Health

Together, we learned valuable lessons and strengthened our coordination. Our commitment to continuous improvement ensures we are always ready to respond swiftly and effectively in any emergency.

Thank you again for your support and partnership in community safety!
