March Blogging Challenge

Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge 2018

March BloggingChallengeClassroom Slice of Life Story Challenge 2018

3-215 Takes on the Classroom SOLSC!

Each March, the Two Writing Teachers blog issues a challenge for both educators and students- blog each day for the entire month of March! Our class will take on this challenge. Students can earn different digital badges during the month to keep the enthusiasm going. A packet will be sent home in the days before the challenge. The packet will help students keep track of the blog posts written and the posts they've commented on, too.

While the challenge is not mandatory, it is my hope that all students try to blog as many days as they can in March! I am also taking on this challenge in the educator SOLSC and will be writing each day, too. This will be my third year participating in the challenge and my second time with students. The experience is unforgettable!

"Slice" of Life

Orange slices are the symbol of the "Slice of Life Story Challenge." A "slice of life" refers to a small piece of your day, or a little part of your life. Blog posts are often personal narratives, but students can also write poetry and reviews in this challenge.

Thirty One Days of Writing in Third Grade

Anytime you try something new, there will be lessons learned. The Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge (SOLSC) was an ambitious endeavor for my third graders, but a very worthwhile one. As I reflect on the experience, I consider the successes, the difficulties and ways to improve upon what I started this year.
