Our annual Halloween Costume Parade will take place on Friday, October 30, at 8:00 AM on the CPJMA blacktop! Parents and families are invited to join us for this fun tradition as our students show off their costumes! Students are welcome to come to school dressed in school-appropriate costumes. Please remember that toy weapons and masks that completely cover the eyes or obstruct vision are not permitted. We look forward to a fun and festive morning with our CPJMA school community!

We are also looking for volunteers and families to decorate their trunks and help make this event extra special for our students. Please see the flyer above for sign-up information. We can't wait to celebrate with our CPJMA families! **Thank you to our PTO for making P.E., SDYS, and Art Class possible for our students! We are also incredibly grateful to our CPJMA families for their continued support of school events and fundraisers. The proceeds from these fundraising efforts help fund our enrichment programs and provide valuable opportunities for our students.

AM Morning Drop-off (Arrival) *Parents dropping students off in a car or vehicle please use school parking lot drop off on Jewel

AM Drop-Off (Arrival) - We will use our student drop off lot located in our parking lot on Jewel. Parents are not allowed to park in the parking lot because our staff members need access to get into the parking lot each morning. The parent drop off in the parking lot must move efficiently; parents are NOT ALLOWED to get out of their vehicles during drop-off in the parking lot. Please be respectful and adhere to traffic rules and safety. *This lot is only used for drop-off in the AM, and will not be used for dismissal pick-up.

PM Pick-UP (Dismissal)

TK & Kindergarten - TK & Kindergarten parents will enter the gate on Fortuna, a staff member will stand at the gate while parents walk onto the TK/Kindergarten playground court, and will go directly to their child's classroom door. *Parents will form a line outside the classroom door

First Grade- First grade students will be picked up from the same gate that is used in the morning for entrance, our student entrance gate is located on PB Drive. *This is the same gate that students enter the school through every morning

Second-Fifth Grade Students - 2nd - 5th Grade students will be picked up at the pickup gate located on PB Drive, the gate that is between the front office administration building and the cafeteria/auditorium.

Parking Lot Safety During Morning Drop-off-

Student safety is always our top priority, and we need everyone’s cooperation to keep our drop-off and pick-up procedures safe and efficient.

To ensure the safety of all students, please follow these important guidelines:

  • Right-side exit only: Students must exit vehicles from the right-hand side (passenger side), directly onto the sidewalk—not into the parking lot.

  • Pull forward: Always drive all the way to the front of the drop-off lane before allowing your child to exit. Do not stop in the back half of the lane.

  • One lane only: There is only one traffic lane in the drop-off area. Please do not attempt to pass or cut in front of other cars.

  • Patience and caution: Remain alert and patient. Rushing or cutting in line puts children at risk. Remember that it's not just about the safety of your child; it's about the safety of ALL OF THE CHILDREN, STAFF, & PARENTS in our CPJMA School Community Family! I beg that you use common sense as it relates to safety.

  • Bikes and walking: If you are riding a bike to school, you must use the designated bike/walk path. Do not ride through the parking lot, as it puts your child and you at risk from moving vehicles.

We ask all families to remember that our parking lot is part of a school safety zone. Common sense, patience, and caution are critical to ensuring no student is put in danger. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep CPJMA a safe place for every child.

Running Club

Running Club will begin soon. Students will enter for running club using the PB Drive Gate next to office opens at 7:20AM - Please be on the lookout for more information regarding the official running club start date.

*Students must wear appropriate shoes for running club to prevent injury.

Class Parties/Treats Brought to Campus By Parent/Guardian-

Birthdays are a special day for all of our students, and we want to make sure we support parents who want to recognize their children on that day.

The Following Rules Must Be Followed For Outside Treats/Celebrations:

  • Parent must notify teachers and office staff at least 48 hours in advance if you are bringing something in for your child’s birthday
  • Sensitivity must be practiced by making sure that all students in the classroom are included. Please check with teacher regarding the number of students
  • Celebrations should be conducted 15 minutes before school ends
  • All food served must follow Ed Code nutrition requirements by either being 1) from the cafeteria or 2) on the San Diego Unified Approved Snack List. This list is not all inclusive, additional items may be used if identified to be compliant by the quick reference cards. Alternative items may be available at different stores. Manufactures’ ingredients and distribution change frequently. Contact the Food and Nutrition Services Department (858) 836-8067 for questions
  • All food must be pre-packaged, labeled with ingredients
  • All fresh fruit and vegetables must be washed/cut/prepared in a commercial kitchen except fresh fruit with an inedible peel which is served whole
  • If you have any questions, please talk to your child’s classroom teacher, or contact the Food and Nutrition Services Department (858) 836-8067
  • San Diego Unified Approved Snack List.

Parent Volunteers NEEDED to Support with Lunch Supervision Duty-

We are in great need of parent volunteers during our lunch blocks, especially during the last 20 minutes of each grade level band's lunch block, which is lunch recess.

Lunch Blocks are as follows: UTK 11:00-11:40, K-2nd 11:40--12:20, 3rd-5th 12:25-12:45. If you are able to volunteer to supervise during a lunch recess period, please complete the volunteer form from the district website (https://sdusdfamilies.org/volunteer-2/) and bring proof of a recent negative TB test. Please turn in both the volunteer application form and proof of a recent negative TB test to our office staff.

***Parents interested in volunteering for PALS (Parents Assisting with Lunch Supervision) : Please email PTO PowerParent, Melissa at melissagwen@gmail.com

In Gratitude,

Sakeenah

School Communication:

Teacher Communication: Please ensure that you connect with your child’s teacher regarding their preferred method of parent communication (email, Class Dojo, weekly newsletters, etc.). It is imperative that you stay connected with your child’s teacher.

THE TEACHER-PARENT RELATIONSHIP is most critical to the growth and success in your child's educational journey.

STAY CONNECTED & IN THE KNOW:

PTO: We have an extremely amazing, active, and supportive Parent Teacher Organization. Our PTO parents have done so much to support our students and staff! I encourage all parents to get involved with our school by supporting our PTO, and consider being on the PTO, and/or helping with PTO fundraising events, as the funds that our PTO raise go directly into the school to create the BEST OPPORTUNITIES for our students (art experiences, science experiences, whole child experiences, field trips, supplies/resources for our teachers, theater/drama programs, supporting with our music/violin programs, celebrations for our students and staff, and extra-curricular events/activities for our students). Please email cpjmusicacademy@gmail.com and/or visit https://www.instagram.com/focpjma/?hl=en for more information on how to get involved with our PTO to support our school.
