Shaw Heights Christmas
Newsletter week of 12/15-12/19
It's beginning to look a lot like...π
Dear Families and Students,
As we enjoy this break, we encourage all students to continue building their reading skills by reading at least 20 minutes each day. Whether itβs a favorite book, a new story, or a topic of interest, daily reading helps keep minds active and supports continued growth.
Thank you for your support in helping students develop strong reading habits. We hope you have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable break!

Shining Bright: Sarah McKee
Hello SHMS Families!
My name is Sarah McKee, and this is my 3rd year at Shaw Heights Middle School and my 5th year in the district. I serve as a Mental Health Interventionist and Licensed School Psychologist.
You might wonder what a School Psychologist does! In this role, I specifically work with students who have IEPs and 504 plans to support the "whole child" by bridging the gap between mental health, learning, and behavior. I collaborate with teachers and families to identify students' unique needs, provide counseling and social-emotional instruction, and help create safe, supportive learning environments. My goal is to empower students with the coping skills and emotional resilience they need to thrive academically and personally.
On a personal note, I am originally from Upstate New YorkβGo Bills! I currently live up Coal Creek Canyon with my husband, our almost 3-year-old daughter, and our 15-year-old dog. I love taking advantage of the beautiful Colorado outdoors, so you can often find my family skiing, paddleboarding, hiking, or camping. When I'm at home, I enjoy cooking and working on our latest house renovation project.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year of partnering with you to support your student's growth and success!
