Throughout the last three years we have learned a lot about communication. Technology has certainly changed the way we communicate and access information. With this in mind, MRPS is putting a few new communication channels out to our community in the hopes that we can share all the fabulous work happening in a way that people are looking to receive it. Our community members lead pretty busy and hectic lives. We want you to have the information in a space where you can read, watch, or listen on your own time. Blogs, vlogs, and podcasts are pretty big these days, so we are trying all three!

The purpose of our District-wide blog is to connect the work that happens every day in our schools to our Theory of Growth. At MRPS we believe that if we have four pillars of work functioning at high levels in both academics and social-emotional learning, we will accomplish our fundamental purpose - for all kids to learn at high levels. Our four pillars are detailed in the graphic below.

Over the past three years we have made many in-roads in prioritizing our curriculum and ensuring time in the day for collaborative practices. Our teachers know the power of collective efficacy. This work is coming together in a way that will drive instruction forward in a positive direction. Our community has also passed budgets over the past two years that have included a significant increase in the amount of human resources dedicated to supporting students who need more time and expertise in certain areas. We’ve hired more people with mental health expertise and learning interventionists to help our students grow. It’s our job to put these things together into one, incredibly impactful system that our students and staff will flourish in.

Over the course of this year, our goal is to share this work with our community through this blog. We intend to tie the work together so our community understands how each one of our schools is intentionally working on our theory of growth. Each of our schools do things a bit differently and are in a range of developmental stages, however we are all speaking the same language and building a common goal for our students.
