Arriving and Departing During the School Day Arriving and Departing During the School Day

Late Arrivals (Sign In)

Students arriving late (after 7:40 AM) or returning from an appointment should report directly to the Main Office via Door #1. Our office staff will then provide an admission slip so your student can rejoin class without disruption.

Early Departures (Sign Out)

Students must have permission and notify the Main Office before leaving school during the day. This helps us ensure their safety and maintain a secure environment.

There are three ways to facilitate an early departure:

  • Note (preferred): Provide a handwritten, signed note from a Skyward-approved parent/guardian, including the dismissal time and a contact number.

  • Email: Send an email to PJJacobs-Attendance@pointschools.net from a Skyward-approved email address. This email will be shared with the student and will take the place of a parent note. Emails should be sent with at least an hours notice.

  • In-Person Pick-Up: If a note or email wasn't sent, parents/guardians must come directly to the Main Office via security door #1 (please bring ID). We'll assist in locating your student. To ensure you have ample time for appointments, please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early as locating students can sometimes take a few minutes.

At the designated time, your student should show the note/email to their teacher, gather their belongings from their locker, and then report to the Main Office to formally sign out. They can then meet you at a pre-arranged pick-up location outside.

Students will only be released into the care of a parent, legal guardian, or an approved emergency contact. Any exceptions require prior contact from a parent/legal guardian to the school and may need administrative permission. Unless a sibling is listed as an emergency contact, prior parent approval will be needed as well. Our goal is to ensure a safe and organized process for everyone involved.

Chromebooks

At the beginning of the year, new students will receive a Chromebook for their use. Some reminders concerning procedures and rules for this technology:

Procedures:

  • Computers are the property of the Stevens Point School District, not the student. Parents/guardians of students are allowed to inspect their child’s computer. Students are reminded that technology is regulated and a privilege; their computers may be searched by the school at any time.

  • The goal of this tool is to infuse technology into the curriculum for the enhancement of student learning.

  • Computer problems?

    • Restart your computer.

    • If the computer issue is not resolved, ask at least three other students (“ask three before me”).

    • If still not resolved, ask a teacher or someone in the Technology Help Center. (**Note: The Technology Help Center is located in the LMC. They provide technical assistance to students).

  • Computers should be taken home each night to be charged. Students should leave the computer charging cord at home. The only thing that should be placed in the case/sleeve is the computer (i.e. no papers, pencils, …)

  • Transporting rules: Use two hands to move the computer and close the lid. Transport the computer in the bag/case between classes with the power turned off. Chromebooks always remain in the case.

Rules:

  • Computer use is limited to the assigned student and/or their parent/guardian. The student is responsible for the proper use of their assigned computer (AUP). Do not touch other student computers.

  • Students will comply with all district (AUP) and school rules regarding computer use. Before using a computer, students must ask permission from the supervising teacher or school employee.

  • Chromebooks will be secured at all times. (*When storing your computer in your locker, make sure your locker is locked).

  • DO NOT attempt to alter, avoid, or go around programmed district filters. This includes using proxies.

  • DO NOT download programs to your computer without permission from the 1:1 computer technician.

  • Students will comply with staff requests regarding computer use. Staff control the use of technology in the building/classrooms.

  • Please refer to the “Academic Honesty” section of your student planner. The rule applies to all school computers and includes information regarding students sharing files without teacher permission.

  • Remember all passwords and do not share them with anyone.

  • Computers are not allowed in the cafeteria during lunch; they must be stored in their case/sleeve and locked in your locker.

  • DO NOT alter the computer, asset tag number, or student ID in any way.

  • DO NOT attach stickers, write on, or engrave on the devices.
