Good News from the Superintendent
Student Representatives to the Board of School Directors
Hello, Lower Moreland Community! We, the Student Representatives [Izabella Philip and Yuki Wu] for the 2025-2026 school year, are excited to share with you the School Climate updates from the month of October from Pine Road, Murray Avenue, Lower Moreland Middle School, and Lower Moreland High School.
Pine Road focused on student growth and community during the very busy month of October! Students and staff participated in Red Ribbon spirit days to promote healthy and safe choices, along with monthly assemblies to learn about the core Pine Road pillars. Students have also enjoyed participating in LIONS time this year. Pine Road has also introduced a comprehensive, district-wide framework called Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) this school year. According to Principal Mrs. McMullan, MTSS "uses a data-driven, problem-solving approach to identify what each student needs to thrive academically and emotionally." The goal is to create a school environment that promotes improvement and a strong support system to allow all students to succeed and thrive in school. Also, Kindergarten and 1st grade students visited a farm! Students learned about growth, experienced a hayride, and saw farm animals!
Murray Avenue celebrated Bullying Prevention Month, Unity Day, and Red Ribbon Week!
The school was also busy with fun Halloween Festivities! Murray Avenue held its first-ever "Homeroom Pumpkin Decorating Contest" along with the annual PTA Scarecrow Festival! Both were a ton of fun!
The Lower Moreland Middle School had its largest field trip to date, with over 275 attending, to Valley of Fear. Students took part in a group hayride and participated in the many other attractions that Valley of Fear offers. Additionally, students participated in a spirit day activity called Human Bingo. Students wore Bingo number stickers and had to talk to other classmates to complete their Bingo boards. It was a great way for students to meet new people and bond with their peers! Students could also find their Bingo “twin” who shared the same number in the opposite grade. Human Bingo was a ton of fun for students to participate in a social activity at school and to form new connections with others!
Finally, the high school kicked off Mini-THON Kids' Night Out! The event was a huge success and lots of fun for the kids. The school also hosted Notes of Hope, a charity event raising money for Philabundance. Students performed music and poetry with their friends and sold raffle baskets all in support of a good cause. There were many sports achievements this past month as well. Both the Girls Tennis Team and the Cross Country Teams reached states, with the Girls Tennis Team placing 2nd! The Boys Soccer Team also reached district finals! We are so proud of our teams and athletes at our school.

Donation to Nicole's Place
On October 16 (also known as Purple Thursday), Mrs. Colleen Quinn-Maxwell and Mr. Casey Molt's 9th-grade health classes welcomed guest speakers from the Laurel House, a domestic violence agency, to raise awareness and conversation on healthy and unhealthy relationships. In support of the National Day of Domestic Violence Awareness, LMTSD staff raised $600 for Nicole's Place, a Laurel House satellite located in Huntingdon Valley.
Congratulations to Coach Raben!
Congratulations to Girls and Boys Tennis Coach Cliff Raben, who was announced as the 2024-2025 National Federation of State High School Associations' Girls Tennis Coach of the Year for Pennsylvania!
He has coached the Girls team to a State Championship win and two State Doubles titles over the last few years. He has also been at the helm of a State Championship win for Boys Tennis and a State singles title as well.

Student and Parent Advisory Councils
The Lower Moreland Township School District recently hosted meetings for both the Student Advisory Council and the Parent Advisory Council. The main agenda topic for both groups was an introduction to the new Website and App. Participants in both sessions were given time to explore the website and app and discuss their findings. Both councils provided feedback by sharing what they noticed, what worked well, and what did not work well. The Parent Advisory Council also discussed preferred communication channels, while the Student Advisory Council held elections for its officers. The feedback gathered is crucial to our dedication to continuous improvement.
