Rogers Middle School
Notes from Principal Thomas
🍂 Fall Into Success at Rogers Middle School! 🚀
As we welcome the season, we are so excited to watch our students "be-leaf" in themselves and continue growing into the amazing young people they are becoming! Our Rockets have done an incredible job advocating for their interests and helping us create opportunities that reflect their passions in the arts, academics, athletics, service, leadership, and so much more.
We encourage you to visit with your child and ask whether they have completed a club application or joined one of our clubs. Club meetings will begin in October, and we are thrilled to offer more clubs than ever before thanks to the ideas of our students and the dedication of our staff. At Rogers, there truly is a place for everyone! Please be on the look out for an updated list of clubs on our website soon.
📚 Partnering for Academic Success
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s education. Middle school is an exciting journey, and learning to navigate multiple classes and schedules is a new adventure for many students. Your partnership makes all the difference!
Please continue checking Skyward with your child each week to monitor grades, assignments, and overall progress. If your child needs additional support, tutoring opportunities are available, and our teachers are always happy to help. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns.
🍫 PTA World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser

Notes from Your Counselors
Dear Families,
We hope you and your family are easing into the routine of the school year. This month we’d like to address conflicts and bullying in schools. It is natural for children to experience conflicts and disagreements with their peers. Sometimes conflicts can be very minor and other times they can become a bigger deal, especially when they occur between friends. Whether big or small, you can tell something is a conflict if there is not an imbalance of power. Through listening and talking, often you can help your child determine their next steps to try and resolve the conflict, set a boundary with their peer, or reduce interactions with that person. Conflict can be challenging to deal with and it is important to remember that conflict does have its benefits. It builds our skills in expressive language, assertive communication and it deepens our empathy.
On the other hand, bullying is when someone is intentionally bringing harm to someone else and there is a clear imbalance of power between those people. This typically takes place over a period of time. Psychology Today created an activity with scenarios that may help make the difference more clear.
When your child comes home sharing concerns about peer problems, it’s important to listen carefully and offer support without judgment.
Here are some ways you can help your child handle these situations:
- Listen and validate their feelings. Try to stay calm.
- Encourage open communication by asking gentle questions about what happened and how it made them feel.
- Teach problem-solving skills such as staying calm, walking away, set a boundary with an assertive tone, and seeking help from trusted adults.
- Reassure your child that they are not alone and that school staff are there to ensure their safety.
- Collaborate with the school, if necessary, by contacting teachers, counselors, or administrators to address the issue.
Here is an additional resource that discusses bullying and cyberbullying.
Together, we can create a safe and supportive environment where every child feels respected and valued. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need guidance or support.

Notes from Your Assistant Principals
Parents,
Thank you for such an amazing start to this school year. For the last month, we have had intentional whole group and private discussions concerning infractions such as dress code violations, common area violations, and other miscellaneous items mentioned in the visuals. Moving forward, we will begin assigning consequences for the items mentioned. As always, we thank you for your support and partnership.
Your Assistant Principals,
