Welcome back to a brand-new school year at Hyatt! We are thrilled to welcome our families back and to see our students’ smiling faces once again. This year is especially exciting as we return to a beautifully remodeled building—our refreshed spaces are not only stunning but designed to support learning, growth, and connection. It’s a great reminder of how fortunate we are to belong to such a committed and supportive school community. Please take a few moments to read through our newsletter for important information to help you prepare for the year ahead. And remember, we are always just a phone call away—don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. We’re here to help and can’t wait for another incredible year together at Hyatt!

Every Child Every Day

Welcome to Hyatt! Welcome to Hyatt!

We experienced several staff changes over the summer that will bring new opportunities and lots of excitement! Mrs. Rueckert has accepted a literacy coaching position at Linden Elementary and Mrs. Urian will now be supporting the children at Central. We know both buildings are fortunate to have them joining their teams. Mrs. Cranston is now our newest art teacher. We are also excited to announce we have three new teachers joining our school family as well as a student teacher from the University of Michigan-Flint.

Tuesday, August 19th - Open House

Please join us on Tuesday evening to meet your child's teacher and tour the building. There will be staff and community groups here to provide you with helpful information. Parents who need support with transportation can speak with members of Dean Transportation in the gymnasium. Parents who need Pickup Cards for dismissal can get those from the office.

  • 4:30 - 5:30 PM Young 5's and Kindergarten Open House
  • 5:00 - 6:00 PM 1st Grade - 3rd Grade Open House

Student Drop Off and Pickup Procedures

Please be patient as we work together to support the transitions that take place during arrival and dismissal. Transportation routes often take longer as the drivers are learning their children and the routes and the parent pick up line often runs slower as well. Please review some important reminders to help support a safe and smooth start to the school year:

  • Bus Transportation:

    • Please confirm your child’s transportation arrangements at Open House on August 19th.

  • Parent Drop-Off:

    • Staff will welcome students outside at 8:15 a.m. The children will enter through the new main entrance and walk to the gym to wait for their teacher or to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast.

  • School Begins:

    • School starts promptly at 8:34.

  • Drop-Off Safety:

    • Pull forward to the last staff member in the loop before stopping to unload.

    • Stay in your car; staff will assist your child.

    • Teach your child to exit on the passenger side quickly and safely.

    • Children should not cross the parking lot during drop-off or pick-up.

  • Dismissal Time:

    • Student dismissal is at 3:42 p.m.

  • Dismissal Procedures:

    • Curbside Pick-Up: Please have your pick up card displayed on your dashboard or hanging from the passenger window for the staff to view and get your child.

    • Bus Riders: Students will follow their regular bus routine unless you notify the teacher or office. To ensure safety, parents are NOT allowed in the bus loop at any time, including dismissal. If you have last-minute changes, please contact the office by 3:00 p.m.

Visitors and Volunteers

Passes for visitors and volunteers are available in the office and provided once you have signed-in and should be worn at all times. This supports identification and supports building supervision. Appointments may be initiated by the parent or guardian and/or the school.

Volunteering at Hyatt Elementary is encouraged, as your time and efforts are greatly appreciated! All volunteers must have a background check completed before they may volunteer. If you are wanting to volunteer, you can pick up an ICHAT form in the office or click on the link below. Forms must be competed for each semester of the school year. Please remember photographs of other children are not permitted. If you have any questions or concerns, please share them with a staff member.
