Bus Evacuation Drills - October 28th Bus Evacuation Drills - October 28th

From Mark Champa, Transportation Coordinator:

Our Transportation Department will be conducting school bus evacuation drills on Wednesday, October 28, during our scheduled early release day. These drills are an important part of ensuring students know how to safely exit the bus in the event of an emergency.

To allow drivers adequate time to demonstrate and practice evacuation procedures with students, bus riders may arrive home a few minutes later than their usual drop-off time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep our students safe!

Parents/guardians, please remember to contact the Roosevelt main office when your child will be absent or arriving late. While your child may let their teacher know they will be gone, we must receive communication directly from a parent/guardian in order to excuse the absence.

If we have not received communication from a parent/guardian, the absence will be marked as unexcused until we receive confirmation.

Thank you for helping us keep our attendance records accurate and ensuring all students are accounted for!

End-of-Day Transportation & Pick-Up Changes End-of-Day Transportation & Pick-Up Changes

All changes to a student’s end-of-day plans must be communicated to the Roosevelt main office by 2:00 PM. This includes changes to busing, parent pick-up, walking, Boys & Girls Club, Laker Kids, or any other dismissal arrangements.

We need to receive all changes by 2:00 PM to allow enough time to communicate updated plans to students and staff before dismissal procedures begin, with some busing dismissals starting as early as 3:05 PM depending on programming. Changes received after 2:00 PM cannot be guaranteed to reach your student before dismissal.

For long-term or permanent changes to your student’s busing arrangements, please contact Mark Champa - District Transportation directly at 218-847-9273.

Sunrise SAIL Registration Sunrise SAIL Registration

Sunrise SAIL will be held Monday through Friday from 7:30–8:10 AM. Students do not need to arrive right at 7:30 AM. The focus of the Sunrise SAIL Reading Program will be on enjoying stories and reading to start each day.

If you would like your child to participate in this program, please complete this form and return it to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. The estimated start date is October 5.

Please note: If your child is dropped off at school at 7:30 AM and is not already enrolled in Sunrise SAIL, they will automatically be enrolled and will attend the program. A Sunrise SAIL enrollment form will still need to be completed and returned.

If you have any questions, please contact Rhonda Fode at rfode@detlakes.k12.mn.us.
