Mr. Powers Notes
November is a time where we take the opportunity to be thankful and grateful for all of the many things we have in our lives. At BRCP, we are grateful for the hard work our students show daily, the time and effort our instructors put in to ensure our students have the best education possible, and for our parents and community members who support our career center and the opportunities the students are earning while attended BRCP. As we approach the final two months of the first semester, we hope everyone will take some time to thank someone in their lives who encourages them daily.
We are looking forward to a great school year! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you may reach me at 317-392-4191 ex. 1101 or jpowers@brcp.k12.in.us

School Reminders
As many of you might be aware, the State of Indiana passed a new law, effective July 1, 2026, specifically, Senate Enrolled Act 78 that states that any personal device capable of connecting to cellular network or the Internet will not be allowed to be used during the school day. This includes cell phones, personal tablet computers, personal laptops, gaming devices, and smartwatches. The “school day” consists of when the time the bell rings for the class to begin until they leave at the end of the day.
Blue River Career Programs intends to follow the law set forth by the State of Indiana and have established four opportunities students will have while they attend BRCP this school year.
· Option 1: Students may choose to leave their personal device in their vehicle (if they drive) OR choose not to bring it to school.
· Option 2: If students choose to bring their personal device into the building, they must power the device completely off and place it in a school provided cell phone locker that is in their instructors classroom.
· Option 3: If students choose to bring their personal device into the building, they can leave it in their backpack and power it off.
· Option 4: If students choose to bring their personal device into the building and don’t feel comfortable placing it in the school provided cell phone locker or their bag, they may bring it up to the office, where a storage area will be kept for personal devices
2. Everything that we do here at BRCP is to set our students up for what's next, whether they are going to college or starting a career. One area that we are still trying to help our students with is attendance. If your student is out for any reason, please give us a call to the BRCP attendance line. Also, if your student goes to the doctor, please have them grab two doctor's notes, one for their home school and one for BRCP. That will help us as we move forward.
