Academy Announcements
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
May is well underway and things are really starting to move fast here. MCAS Math is here this week for our 3rd and 4th graders. Here are some important things to note happening around campus and across the district:
- This week, we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! We have a whole list of activities and treats planned for our staff. Cards from home are always welcome as we thank our incredible staff!
- This past week, our kindergarteners in K-Rosemond celebrated becoming authors and published their first book. They made amazing paragraphs and works of art. See some pictures below.
- Grade 3 has MCAS Math on Tuesday and Wednesday and 4th Grade has MCAS Math on Thursday and Friday this week. Grade 5 will have MCAS Math next week. As always please make sure chromebooks are charged every night.
- We want to welcome Ms. Abigail Ierardi, who will be working with the students in 3D!
- For the past few weeks, students in all grades have been working on a special Medal of Honor project. Our school has been learning and writing about the Medal of Honor and Weymouth recipient, Elden H. Johnson. Classes around the school have been learning all about his dedication, service, and bravery. Grade 2 visited the Memorial Wall next to Town Hall to learn more.
- Our 1st grade classes went on a special trip to the WHS Planetarium on Friday. They got to experience a space launch and go out an explore our solar system.
- 5th Grade went to Fish School this past week as part of our partnership with the North & South River Watershed Alliance. Students learned all about journey the fish take climbing from the Weymouth herring run.
- Grades 3-5 will be doing the Panorama survey. Students took the survey in the fall and this valuable data will help inform us on our school climate.
- Lip Sync is getting close. We are so excited for the big night on Chapman Stage on May 15th. There are over 40 acts for the show. It's amazing to see what the students come up with.
- Running club is back for students in Grade 3-5 on Thursdays after school.
- Wednesday is the Spring Walk to School Day. Routes will leave from the Essex St. and Legion Field starting points. Please join us as this is part of our safe routes to school initiative.
Every year, all schools that receive Title I funds are asked to provide feedback about the current services your school is receiving. If you could take a moment to share your thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated. FY25 Title I Family Needs Assessment
Thank you for all your support!
