The Lyon County School District is proud to spotlight Robin Brooks, a retired educator whose dedication to students and staff continues to shine brightly at East Valley Elementary School. Though officially retired, Robin’s passion for education and her commitment to helping others has never slowed down.

At the start of this school year, East Valley Elementary faced an unexpected challenge when enrollment shifts required the rearrangement of several classes. One teacher had to change grade levels after the school year had already begun, which meant packing up her classroom, creating new lesson plans, and completely resetting for a different group of students — a daunting task for any educator.

That’s when Robin Brooks stepped in.

Over the weekend, Robin came to the school to lend a helping hand. She spent time reorganizing the classroom, preparing materials, and offering support to ensure the teacher felt encouraged and ready for her new assignment. Robin recognized how overwhelming such a transition could be, and through her kindness and experience, she turned a difficult situation into one filled with teamwork and care.

Robin’s dedication doesn’t stop there. She continues to volunteer at East Valley Elementary multiple days each week, assisting teachers with classroom tasks, making copies, organizing materials, and helping wherever she is needed. Her presence has become a steady source of support and positivity for both staff and students.

In recognition of her exceptional commitment and service, Executive Director of Human Resources, BillieJo Hogan, presented Robin with a Lyon County School District Recognition Coin — a well-deserved honor for someone who continues to make such a meaningful impact.

LCSD is truly grateful for Robin’s ongoing generosity, compassion, and service. Her selflessness reflects the very best of our district’s spirit — a reminder that education is not only about teaching but about caring for one another as a community.

👏 Thank you, Robin Brooks, for continuing to go above and beyond for our teachers, our students, and our schools!
