A Lenten Call to Cleanse A Lenten Call to Cleanse

Jesus turned tables over in the temple because God’s house is not a marketplace. He did this because it was excluding people from coming to worship and distracting those that would come. Some people felt like they couldn't come to the temple to worship unless they had money to spend. Jesus wanted people to know that worshipping God is free. God’s love is unconditional. Jesus cleansed the temple to get us ready for the ultimate sacrifice. This is a call for us to do some cleaning of our hearts and homes this Lent.

What are you holding on to that keeps you from worshiping God freely? We can hold onto hurt, grief, bitterness, anger, or material things.

For the month of March, St. Luke’s is collecting gently used or new items to donate to The Green Door Thrift Shop, a ministry of St. Luke’s Church for over 75 years. All proceeds from this ministry benefit nonprofits all over the city. You can bring items to the carpool line or drop off in the Jones Lobby.

We're also collecting used St. Luke's uniforms until the end of the school year. Drop off your gently used uniforms at the front desk for other students to use! The uniform closet is a great resource for our growing students and for days when they need an extra accessory or a quick change of clothes.

Help Us Welcome Our New Families! 🐯 Help Us Welcome Our New Families! 🐯

Each spring, we celebrate our newest St. Luke’s families by delivering swag bags and yard signs right to their front doors—a small gesture that makes a big impression. This year, we’ll be stuffing approximately 60 welcome bags on Monday, March 23, and delivering them on Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25.

We would love your help preparing and delivering these bags so we can welcome our new families in true Hilltop style! If you’re interested in lending a hand, please sign up below. Let’s show them what makes our community so special from day one!

Calling All St. Luke's Charity Ball Members!

Once again, St. Luke’s will be placing an ad in the Charity Ball magazine, and we are excited to include members of our community in the photo.

We invite all Charity Ball parents and grandparents to join us for a photo shoot on Monday, March 23 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s. This is a wonderful opportunity to represent our school and celebrate the many members of our community who are involved with Charity Ball.

Please join us if you are able—we would love to have a strong St. Luke’s presence in this year’s ad and want to be sure that all parents and grandparents affiliated with St. Luke’s are included and invited.

Prayer Requests

At St. Luke’s, we believe deeply in the power of prayer and in the strength of lifting one another up in community. Parents, grandparents, students, faculty, and friends of St. Luke’s are invited to share prayer requests through our confidential Prayer Request Form.

When you submit a request, please know that you will be prayed for daily by our Chaplain. These prayers will remain private and will not be shared with the broader community unless you specifically give consent.

As Scripture reminds us:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 4:6–7

The Prayer Request Form lives in the Chaplain's Word Newsletter for whenever you need it!

Roving Lenten Dinners

This Lent, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church continues its partnership with fellow Episcopal parishes across San Antonio for shared Roving Lenten Dinners.

Each Wednesday evening from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm, SLEC will gather at a different church to share dinner, enjoy conversation, hear reflections from clergy and parishioners, and close the evening by praying Compline together. This year’s theme, “A Journey Through Holy Week,” will explore the unique liturgies that shape the most sacred days of our church year and invite us more deeply into Christ’s passion and resurrection.

These evenings offer a meaningful opportunity to deepen our Lenten practice while building relationships with our wider Episcopal community.

5:30 pm – Dinner & Discussion

  • March 18 – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (1018 Grayson St.)
  • March 25 – Resurrection Episcopal Church (5909 Walzem Rd.)

We hope you’ll join us for this shared journey through Lent.

RSVP by clicking here.
