Join Camp Contact at Burning Man 2025 – A Year of Renewal

Camp Contact’s most significant annual gathering happens at Burning Man, where we form a community of dancers who celebrate Contact Improvisation, Embodiment Practices, Authentic Relating, and Circling.

After a particularly challenging strike in 2024, we are in a period of restructuring and renewal. We heard from placement, and have been granted placement as a camp for 2025. We have been granted a 100' x 200' space for our camp. This will allow us to host 50-65 campers in tents, hexayurts, and possibly a few RVs. We have important tasks ahead of us:

• Reviewing each piece of infrastructure and optimizing it for ease of strike
• Reviewing the social contract for campers and ensuring everyone commits to striking the camp.

We are actively seeking dedicated and experienced campmates—especially veteran burners familiar with medium to large camp logistics—who can commit to staying through Monday evening (or later if needed) to assist with strike and MOOP sweep. Our goal is to distribute leadership more effectively, prevent burnout, and build resilience against unpredictable weather events while taking on less and spending less time on playa.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Camp Contact. If you’ve camped with us before and resonate with our community of practice, we’d love to welcome you back. If you’re new but bring the dedication and experience to support a thriving large camp, we invite you to apply.

In particular, I want to create a stronger pod based form of camp, where groups of campers who know each other well come to join as a pod and offer specific meals, infrastructure and events. Not everyone will come to camp knowing people, but campers who are accepted will be assigned to a pod which will meet regularly leading up to the burn.

Let’s come together to create a sustainable, inspiring, and deeply connected Camp Contact for Burning Man 2025 and beyond.

We are now accepting applications for Camp Contact at Burning Man 2025!

We're getting ready for another Container to the Playa in 2025 and have an even better load in location in DC lined up for 2025. We already have the same drop off point set up for Richmond, and are considering drop off points in Baltimore, Philly, Pittsburgh and Asheville, NC.

We are in the process of transferring the organizing and management of the container to the DC Community Container team, lead by Bardia, and Burning Man Regional Contacts Joy Zendipity and Markey El-Rayes. The team is being advised by Ian Fisk. Please hold off on making reservations or paying on the existing site, we will be setting up a new site shortly.

We are looking for a camp to host the 53' container on Playa! If you know of a camp which wants to host the container, it can serve as an excellent wind block! Please reach out to container@campcontact.org or in the DC Community Container FB group.

We are again looking for Graphic Art that represents this years Theme of "Tomorrow Today" to be created for the 3" x 4" stickers that will go on cargo. We need five different graphics made for stickers with the words (and with the primary color as indicated):

• Monday/Tuesday Build (Orange)
• Wednesday/Thursday Build (Yellow)
• Friday Build (Red)
• Sunday (Purple)
• Monday or Later (Nature Green)

on them. We will use these stickers to label the bins and gear that people are shipping.

All Stickers should, in smaller print say "Tomorrow Today" on them, as well as "CCC 2025" or "Camp Contact Container 2025" on them.

Claim the day you want to work on in our Stickers topic of the Container Telegram Group!

Once you've finished, post it in the telegram STICKERS topic, and feedback will be provided as needed. Successful art will be eligible to ship 1 bin (or equivalent) with the Camp Contact Container Compliments. This bin shipping award is giftable. Image can be submitted in JPG/PNG format and should have a 3 x 4 aspect ratio or a 4 x 3 aspect ratio. Thank you, RINK for Saturday's sticker, above!

A small group of Burners are gathering this weekend, May 1-5, for " Burn In" a burn happening on lovely, bucolic land in Middleburg, VA. This kid friendly event is happening at SmithWick Farms, where Camp Contact stores all of its gear. The event is too small to have a formal "camp" at it, there will be 30 to 50 attendees. Come Join us! (Darrell is not attending) Tickets are only $65

Camp Contact will be attending Playa Del Fuego, May 22-26. Don't have tickets yet? Anarchy Round of ticket sales will be happening Thursday, May 1st at 7:50 pm! If you're chosen to be able to get tickets, please buy 2 tickets as we have many campers still looking for tickets! This is the final round of ticket sales, and there are many after market tickets that we can get. Sign up for a peacock account ahead of the sale so that you're ready to go as soon as tickets go on sale. Please register to join us if you're wanting to come, even if you don't have a ticket yet! We are trying something new this year! We are going to prepare many of our meals prior to the burn at Shelley's house in Bethesda on Monday night before PDF!

Anyone want to take Camp Contact to Summerisle June 19-23? Please reach out to Darrell if so! Darrell will be at VibeCamp, but that doesn't mean Camp Contact can't go to Summerisle!

We are sad to hear that Transformus is likely not happening in 2025, we hope we are mistaken and some magic happens to bring it together for this summer. However, the "Welcome Home" burn is happening at the original location of Transformus, at Deerfields. Join the Facebook group for this to learn more!, and let Darrell know if you want Camp Contact to come!

Save the date for our 3rd annual Burner Meetup & Fundraiser! Rua will be leading the wellness workshop, and we'll have our standard fare of a burner outfit exchange, vendors, a chance to meet other campers and camps and chat about plans for Burning Man 2025! We are accepting burner outfit donations anytime at GlowHouse now through the end of June, please leave them in the burner bin that's in front of the house on the right! Also, we are looking for an opening DJ for this event, reach out to BOLTh at dance@campcontact.org if you'd like to DJ!

Save the Date! VibeCamp, happening June 19-22, 2025 at Ramblewood, in Darlington, Maryland, is an emergent community in its fourth year that gathers for a long weekend of conversations, workshops, special events, dance parties, and all the rest. Attendees come mostly from loose connection of networks on twitter, including the 'tpot' community. I was especially glad to find the list of growth modalities created by Christine of this community. Attendees include Rationalists, Burners, Effective Altruists, Lurkers, and people who had never heard of those things.

Camp Contact is excited to join in the festivities again this year. Plans are still being made for Camp Contact's Role at Vibecamp 4

Camp Contact creates transformational workshops that bring embodiment, awareness, sensitivity and inspiration and offers them at burns! And, we work together to understand and grow in our relationships. This camp is an ever growing network of amazing humans. We are so grateful that, at each event, bonds are foraged and/or deepened. You put the connection into Contact. Thank you for being you! We look forward to dancing with you from the Eclipsing Sun to the Dust.

Camp Contact relies on your donations and support to grow our movement movement. If Camp Contact has impacted you in a positive way, please consider sending a financial donation of any size via any of our payment methods to keep us going strong and support our offerings and infrastructure:

• Venmo - @campcontact
• Paypal - dance@campcontact.org
• Zelle - dance@campcontact.org
• Crypto - campcontact.eth on Ethereum and sidechains

If there are other forms of Financial Capital you'd like to donate, or if you'd like to receive a tax deduction for a donation via our fiscal sponsor, please be in touch at dance@campcontactr.org

We also rely on volunteer support and could use help with admin and technical support, particularly Linux System administration and PHP/Drupal coding. We would love to document our culture, create/edit videos about camp life, infrastructure construction and other aspects of camp.

We are interested in hosting other gathering or fundraisers in other cities. There is some talk of a Fundraiser in New York City, message BOLTh at dance@campcontact.org
