Dubiski Counselor Connection
May 2026 Edition
As we enter the final month of the school year, we also recognize Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to reflect on the importance of caring for our minds just as much as our achievements.
May is a busy and important time, with AP testing and semester exams right around the corner. While we encourage you to stay focused, remain committed, and finish the year strong, it’s just as important to take care of yourself along the way.
Think of your mind as a garden 🌿🧠🌼 — what you nurture will grow. Make time to rest, stay organized, ask for help when needed, and create space for positive thoughts and healthy habits. Balancing your academic responsibilities with your well-being will set you up for success not only in these final weeks of the school year, but beyond.
Stay focused, take care of yourself, and finish strong—you’ve got this! 🌱✨
SUMMER MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGE
As the school year comes to a close, remember: you’ve done your best—now it’s time to rest, reset, and recharge.
Summer break isn’t just a vacation—it’s your opportunity to take a step back from the stress of the school year and give your mind and body the care they deserve. Use this time to step back from stress, reconnect with what brings you joy, and build healthy habits that support your mental wellness.
Here are some ideas......
- Rest by slowing down and allowing yourself time to recharge.
- Reconnect with the people, activities, and moments that bring you joy.
- Reset by letting go of stress and giving yourself grace.
- Reflect on how far you’ve come and the growth you’ve experienced this year.
- Prepare by building healthy habits that support your well-being moving forward.
Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your academic success. Use this summer to pour into yourself—you matter, and you deserve it!

📢 Semester Exam Information & Expectations
As we approach the end of the school year and semester exams, we want to share important information for what you and your student can expect on exam days.
🗓 Semester Exam Dates & Schedule
Exam Dates:
- Wednesday, May 20th (A day classes)
- Thursday, May 21st (B day classes)
Schedule:
Students will follow their regular schedule on exam days.
Even on exam days, students are expected to report to each class according to their normal A/B schedule, unless they are officially exempt from that class’s exam (Juniors & Seniors received a separate Canvas message & parent email about exemptions).
SEMESTER EXAM EXEMPTIONS:
To be exempt it takes into account grades and absences/tardies. Teachers will have the final decision on a student being exempt.
Who can be exempt: ONLY students who are coded 11th or 12th grade in SKYWARD are eligible.
There are 2 opportunities for students to be Exempt:
✔️ 1st Opportunity: Attendance/Grades for ALL classes:
Students must meet one of the following requirements:
a. SM1 average of 90-100 with no more than 3 absences
b. SM1 average of 85-89 with no more than 2 absences
c. SM1 average of 80-84 with no more than 1 absence
THREE TARDIES EQUALS ONE ABSENCE FOR THE PURPOSES OF EXEMPTIONS.
IF YOU HAVE A DOUBLE OR TRIPLE BLOCK CLASS: You must have met the requirements for each period - it is ALL or NOTHING.
✔️ 2nd OPPORTUNITY: TSI Met FOR ENGLISH & MATH COURSES ONLY:
If a student is TSI MET for ENGLISH and/or MATH with a minimum grade of 70, students are eligible for exemption.
ATTENDANCE STILL MATTERS. EVERY DAY! EVERY PERIOD⚠️
STUDENTS HAVE BEEN REMINDED THAT LACK OF ATTENDANCE MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF CREDIT FOR A COURSE AND THEIR SPOT AT DUBISKI.
STUDENTS CANNOT GO TO ANY OTHER CLASS DURING THEIR ASSIGNED CLASS.
EXAMS CANNOT BE TAKEN EARLY. IF STUDENTS ARE ABSENT THEY CAN TAKE MAKEUP EXAMS MAY 22nd or MAY 26th. IT WILL BE A ZERO UNTIL TAKEN.
