D.E.A.R. Day is April 12th!

D.E.A.R. stands for Drop Everything and Read. On this day we celebrate the importance of making reading a priority in our lives by dedicating 30 minutes to read together as families, classes, and friends! Check out all the fun ways to participate here. Need books? We have tons of ebooks and audiobooks available in Sora! Check them out here (login with Clever).

Poetry Month!

This poetry choice board has some easy ways to engage students in poetry. Students can also check out poetry books from their school library here. Place books on hold and they will be delivered to their classroom doors. Check with your child's school to see if they are supporting library check out.

Share your library love!

Modern-day school libraries are pretty amazing places! Though they still offer the latest and greatest, diverse, culturally responsive collections filled with high-interest books, they are hubs for making, creating, collaborating, and innovation. Teacher librarians specialize in technology integration, information literacy, digital citizenship, reading advocacy, and provide support and resources for classroom instruction. Our four high school teacher-librarians have worked tirelessly to support students and teachers with CDL this year. Our K-8 library staff has been pivotal in preparing resources for teachers and getting books into students' hands by offering curbside checkout.

Let's celebrate School Library Month this April! Share what you love about your school library and share it with your teacher-librarian or library staff! Print out the form here, or share it with us on social media.

PebbleGo?! What's that?

Great news! Our district now subscribes to PebbleGo! This is an awesome database filled with accessible information for K-3 students. PebbleGo has features that make it easy for even non-readers to research and explore new information. If you're digging into research or simply need your students to access non-fiction, this is the perfect place to begin. Teachers, don't have time to learn a new resource? Leave that up to Mrs. Page. She can visit your class and teach your students and you at the same time! You can schedule a class visit here.

Note: For the remainder of this year we have access to PebbleGo, PebbleGo Next (3rd-5th), and Capstone interactive ebooks. They all can be found here. Below is the login information for the remainder of this year. Next fall we will activate Clever login.

New: Library Ed Tech PD Wednesdays @ 1 PM

Need new ideas and resources to see you through this year? Pop in for a quick 45 minutes PD session to learn about tech tools, tips, resources, and more.

We begin next week on April 7th @ 1 PM with Nearpod. Learn how to engage students and how Nearpod integrates with Google Slides. Not a good time for you? No worries, all sessions will be recorded so you can view them at your pace and in your own time. The recordings and the link to join can be found here.

New 4J Spring Library Clubs!

We have two new library clubs being offered this spring! Students interested in creating and tinkering should join our Makerspace Club. We're kicking off our first session by creating anything with crayons (build a structure, color a picture, create a mosaic...) in celebration of National Crayon Day! Join the fun Wednesdays at 10 AM.

This Thursday at 3 PM our Book Love Club begins. Participants will get to share their great reads and we will leave with a list of great books to add to our reading list!

No sign-up required. Participants can click the image below to learn how to join.

Please share this with families, students, and teachers. Thank you for your help in spreading the word!

Library Check Out During Hybrid

Library check-out will continue to happen during hybrid learning at participating schools. Books will be delivered to classrooms instead of to the curb! Hopefully, more students will be able to check out books! Share this video to learn how to place books on hold or invite Mrs. Page to show your class how to navigate Destiny and find books they love!
