We Need Your Help! We Need Your Help!

We know that starting a new school year—or joining a new school community—can feel overwhelming. To help make things easier and ensure you stay in the loop, please take a few minutes to complete the important items below.

✅ Some of these must be done at the beginning of every school year, even if you're a returning family!

This will help us stay connected and make sure you don’t miss any important information. Thank you for partnering with us—we’re so glad to have you at Glen Loch!

Parent To Do List

🕒 School Hours 🕒 🕒 School Hours 🕒

  • School begins promptly at 7:55 a.m. and dismissal is at 3:10 p.m.

  • Our doors open at 7:25 a.m. each morning. Please make arrangements to ensure your child arrives between 7:25 and 7:55 a.m.

  • Any student arriving after 7:55 a.m. is considered tardy. Instruction begins at 7:55, and we want every student present and ready to start the day strong!

  • If your child arrives late, a parent must walk them into the front office to sign them in.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

We appreciate your help in keeping our car rider line safe, smooth, and efficient for all Glen Loch families. Please take a moment to review the important reminders below. Your cooperation truly makes a difference in ensuring our students' safety during arrival and dismissal.

🚗 Arrival 🚗

  • For safety reasons, students must remain in their car until a staff member assists them at a designated drop-off location.

  • Do not drop students off in the parking lot. All drop-offs must take place in the designated car rider area to ensure staff supervision and student safety.
  • Breakfast is available from 7:25 to 7:55 a.m. If your child needs breakfast, please plan accordingly so they have enough time to eat before the school day begins.

  • Remain in the car line at all times. Please do not attempt to pass other vehicles that are actively loading or unloading students.

🔔 Dismissal 🔔

  • Be in the car rider line by 3:10 p.m. Dismissal begins promptly at this time. If you arrive after the line has ended and no staff are present out front, you will need to park, bring your government-issued ID, and come inside to sign your child out. Please be on time and follow all dismissal procedures to help us end the day smoothly.
  • Remain in the car line at all times. Please do not attempt to pass other vehicles that are actively loading or unloading students.
  • Have your green transportation sign ready and visible. Place the sign in the passenger-side front windshield so it can be easily scanned by our staff.

  • Cutting in line is not allowed. Please enter the car rider line from the end and follow the established traffic flow.

  • Students will not be allowed to re-enter the building after dismissal begins to retrieve forgotten homework, supplies, or personal items.

  • Parents should stay in their vehicles or remain on the sidewalks during dismissal.

  • Visitors will not be permitted in the building until the dismissal process is complete.

Early Check Out Procedure Early Check Out Procedure

We understand that sometimes things come up and you may need to pick your child up early. However, please note that after 2:30 PM, we are no longer able to call students from class for early dismissal. Our staff is fully focused on preparing for a safe and smooth dismissal, and interruptions after 2:30 PM impact the process for all students.

If you need to pick up your child early, please make arrangements to arrive before 2:30 PM. Any students not picked up by that time will be dismissed as usual at 3:10 PM.

In the event it begins to rain, we kindly ask that you leave your child at school. Even on rainy days, valuable learning continues, and early pickups result in missed instruction. Thank you for helping us prioritize your child’s education!

We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us keep the end-of-day routine safe and organized for everyone!

Attendance Procedures Attendance Procedures

📝 Attendance Reminders 📝

  • To be counted present for the day, students must be on campus by 9:00 a.m. Students who arrive after 9:00 a.m. or leave before 9:00 a.m. will be marked absent for the day, per district policy.
  • When your child returns to school after an absence, please send a written note explaining the reason.

  • Whenever possible, please schedule routine medical appointments after school hours.

  • If you're running late and will arrive after 9:00 a.m., we still encourage you to bring your child to school—every minute of learning counts!

  • Students in Kindergarten–4th grade fall under compulsory attendance laws. Excessive tardies and early checkouts are reported to the county judge.

  • Please try to schedule family vacations during school holidays or long weekends to avoid missed instructional time.

  • Students should remain in school until dismissal at 3:10 p.m. unless they are ill.

Thank you for helping us ensure every child meets their attendance goals!

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

Regular attendance is essential for your child's academic growth, starting from preschool and kindergarten. Here's why it matters:

  • Missing just 10% of school (about 2 days a month) can cause students to fall behind, particularly in key areas like reading.

  • Missing one or two days every few weeks can quickly add up and make it harder to catch up on missed material.

  • Being late or leaving early also disrupts the learning process and negatively impacts overall attendance.

  • When students are absent, teachers may need to slow down the pace to help catch them up, which can affect the entire class.

By prioritizing consistent attendance, you’re giving your child the best chance to thrive academically and stay on track throughout the school year.

Campus Safety and Visitor's Procedures Campus Safety and Visitor's Procedures

At Glen Loch Elementary, student safety is our top priority. To maintain a secure environment, the following measures are in place year-round:

  • All exterior doors remain locked during the school day. Visitors must enter through the main entrance and use the intercom system to state their purpose.

  • All visitors must sign in at the front office and present a physical government-issued ID—copies or photos are not accepted. Only individuals listed as a parent/guardian or emergency contact may check out a student.

  • We use the Raptor visitor management system to screen and track all visitors, volunteers, and staff to ensure student safety.

  • Visitors must wear a visible visitor badge at all times, indicating the date and purpose of the visit. Please return your badge at checkout.

  • For your child’s protection, no visitors are allowed to go directly to classrooms. All student checkouts must occur through the front office.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep Glen Loch a safe place for every student!

CISD's Student Cell Phone Policy at the Elementary Level CISD's Student Cell Phone Policy at the Elementary Level

Transportation Transportation

📝 Transportation Changes 📝

Send all transportation changes to GlenLochTransportation@ConroeISD.net by 2:30 p.m.

You may also send a yellow transportation change slip or note in your child’s folder or fill out a form in the front office. All notes must include the date, your child's full name and your signature. If they are being changed to bus, please include bus number. If they are in 2nd-4th grades, and are being changed to walkers, please indicate whether they will be a front walker or rear walker. If they are being changed to daycare, please indicate what daycare.

  • If emailing, include a photo of the signed note with all required info.
  • Changes by phone are not accepted.
  • A new note is required for each day a change is needed.
  • Cutoff time on early dismissal days is 11:30 a.m.

Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and safe dismissal each day!

Green Transportation Signs

If your child is a car rider or an PK/Kinder/1st grade walker, you must have a green transportation sign to pick them up during dismissal. If you forget the sign, you may come inside to get a new one and rejoin the car line or wait in the front lobby until dismissal is complete to sign your child out when they are brought to the front office.

To request a new green sign, please email GlenLochTransportation@ConroeISD.net. Once ready, your tag can be picked up in the front office before 2:30 p.m. with your ID or sent home in your child’s backpack.

All parents, Pre-K through 4th grade, must have their green dismissal sign ready for pick-up during severe weather dismissal.

No exceptions will be made to this procedure.

Bus Transportation

All students wishing to take the bus must request transportation services online, which can take up to 5–7 days to complete.

Please note that physical stop locations, pick-up/drop-off times, and specific student data will not be available during the request process. Once the bus transportation request is complete, parents will receive a confirmation email from Conroe ISD transportation.

Please note for all PK and Kindergarten riders:

  • They must be met at their stop by an adult holding a yellow transportation sign, which is provided by the school.

  • If no adult is present, the student will be returned to the school for safety.

Thank you for your patience as we work to provide safe and reliable transportation for your child.

Forgotten Items Forgotten Items

Please help your student start the day off right by making sure they arrive at school with all necessary items such as their backpack, lunch, water bottle, and any school materials. This helps your child feel prepared and minimizes classroom disruptions.

  • If something is forgotten, you may drop off items on the labeled table inside the front lobby before 10:30 a.m.
  • All items must be clearly labeled with your child’s full name and grade level to ensure proper delivery.
  • Deliveries are made to classrooms daily at 10:30 a.m.
  • If your child needs eyeglasses, please bring them directly to the office rather than placing them on the drop-off table. We will make sure they are delivered promptly.
  • Classwork, homework, and binders that are dropped off will be placed in the teacher’s mailbox for pickup during the day.

Once students have entered their classrooms, we will not call them to the front office for forgotten items or non-emergency reasons.

We appreciate your help in keeping our day running smoothly!

Deliveries Deliveries

To minimize disruptions to the learning environment, deliveries of flowers, balloons, or other celebratory items are not permitted during the school day. These items can be distracting to students and are best saved for celebrations at home.

Additionally, restaurant or third-party food deliveries (such as DoorDash or UberEats) are not allowed for students. This policy ensures the safety of our campus and helps maintain an orderly school day.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping Glen Loch focused, safe, and distraction-free.

Communication Communication

We encourage all parents to take a moment and sign up for the Home Access Center (HAC). This helpful tool gives you direct access to your child’s report card grades, attendance records, cafeteria balance, and testing information—all in one place.

Staying Connected with Your Child’s Teacher

  • You are welcome to request a conference with your child’s teacher at any point during the school year. Each teacher has a scheduled conference time during their grade level’s special subjects period.

  • Our teachers are dedicated to providing meaningful instruction and support to students throughout the entire school day. Because of this, they may not be able to check or respond to emails immediately.

  • Please allow up to 24 hours for a response during the school week. (Responses sent over the weekend may take a bit longer, as weekends are not included in the response window.)

Daily Communication Folder

  • Your child will bring home a Daily Folder every day. This folder is a key communication tool between home and school.

  • Please check it nightly for messages from your child’s teacher or the school, and sign the included conduct sheet, if needed.

  • Be sure your child returns the folder daily to help us maintain clear and consistent communication.

Weekly Newsletters

  • Be on the lookout for the Glen Loch Family Newsletter, which is emailed out each week and includes important updates, reminders, and celebrations from around the school.

Thank you for partnering with us to stay informed and involved!

Report Cards and Grading Periods Report Cards and Grading Periods

Glen Loch will issue electronic report cards each quarter for all grade levels.

To access these report cards—as well as real-time updates on grades, assignments, attendance, discipline, schedules, and more—parents should use the Home Access Center (HAC). This user-friendly CISD system allows families to view important academic information online, and a single login can be used to view multiple children within the district.

In addition to quarterly report cards, electronic progress reports will be sent to all parents at the 4½-week mark of each grading period to help you stay informed and involved in your child’s academic progress.

Student Dress Code Student Dress Code

Please take time to read the CISD Student Handbook carefully to ensure your child is in compliance with all district guidelines, including dress code expectations. Flip flops, for example, are not permitted as they are considered a safety hazard.

Fridays are “Spirit Day” at Glen Loch! We encourage all students and staff to show their school pride by wearing Glen Loch spirit shirts or our school colors—green and white.

P.E. and Recess Footwear

At Glen Loch, your child’s safety is always our top priority, and that extends to the shoes they wear throughout the school day. Proper footwear is crucial for physical activities, as shoes like flip-flops, open-toed shoes, crocs (even in sports mode), sandals, boots, and high heels, etc. can increase the risk of injury. These types of shoes may not provide the necessary support, causing the foot to move excessively or even come out of the shoe during active play.

We encourage students to bring a pair of tennis shoes to change into for P.E. and recess to ensure they stay safe while staying active!

Thank you so much for helping us keep your Gators safe, healthy, and ready to learn!

Personal Items Personal Items

Label Your Items

To help us return misplaced items to their owners, please clearly label your child’s first and last name on all personal belongings, including binders, backpacks, lunch kits, water bottles, and coats.

Our Lost and Found is located in the front lobby and is cleaned out at the end of each 9-week grading period. Unclaimed items will be donated, so be sure to check regularly if something goes missing!

Water Bottles

All students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day to stay hydrated throughout the day. To help avoid spills and messes, please send bottles with a flip-top lid—no screw tops or cups with lids, please.

  • Label your child’s water bottle with both their first and last name and their teacher’s name.

  • Only plain water is permitted in bottles—no juice, flavored water, or sports drinks.

Thank you for helping us keep students healthy, hydrated, and ready to learn!

School Clinic School Clinic

Glen Loch Elementary is fortunate to have a registered nurse on campus Monday through Friday from 7:25 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to support the health and safety of all students.

To help the nurse and your child’s teacher provide the best care possible:

  • Each student must have a Health Information Form on file in the clinic.

  • This form should be updated any time there is a change in your child’s medical needs or your contact information.

Your partnership ensures we can respond quickly and appropriately to your child’s needs throughout the school day. Thank you!

❗Medication Policy – Please Read Carefully❗

To ensure the safety of all students, please follow these important guidelines regarding medication at school:

  • Students are never allowed to transport medication, including over-the-counter items like cough drops.

  • An adult must bring all medications directly to the school clinic.

  • Medications must be in the original, properly labeled container.

  • Parents/guardians must complete specific paperwork before any medication can be administered.

  • For more detailed information, please refer to the Conroe ISD Student Handbook or contact our school nurse directly.

Student Insurance

Information about an optional student accident insurance program will be made available to families. If your child is not already covered by a personal insurance plan, you may want to consider enrolling. Please note that school-related accidents are not covered by Conroe ISD, so this optional program can provide added peace of mind in case of injury during the school day or school activities.

Illnesses

At Glen Loch Elementary, the health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority. If your child is exhibiting any symptoms of illness, please keep them home to help prevent the spread of illness to others.

Your child will be sent home from school if they exhibit any of the following:

  • A measured temperature of 100°F or greater

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Significant muscle pain or body aches

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing (not related to physical activity, environmental factors, or a chronic condition documented by a physician)

  • New onset of sore throat

  • New onset of severe headache that does not improve with rest or basic interventions

  • New onset cough, congestion, or any prolonged or worsening symptoms of the above

If contacted by the school nurse, your child must be picked up within one hour of notification. The nurse will provide specific guidance on when your child can return to school, based on district health protocols.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy!

Change of Clothing

We kindly ask that each student keep a change of clothes in their backpack at all times. Accidents can happen—whether it's a spilled drink, a fall in the mud, or a restroom mishap—and having their own clothes on hand ensures your child stays comfortable and can quickly return to class.

While the nurse does have a very limited supply of extra clothing, items may not always be the right size or fit. Sending a change of clothes helps avoid delays and helps your child feel more at ease.

Thank you for helping us keep your child comfortable and prepared!

Lunch Visitors Lunch Visitors

We’re excited to invite lunch visitors to campus on Monday, August 25th! To ensure we have enough space, parents must sign up at least 24 hours in advance to have lunch with their child(ren). The SignUp Genius link will be located on our school website and in the newsletter towards the beginning of the school year.

Here are a few tips to make your visit enjoyable:

  • Seating: Once in the lunchroom, please sit at the designated visitors’ table with your child(ren), as space is limited at the student tables.

Field Trip Information Field Trip Information

  • Kindergarten through third grades will participate in one learning field trip per school year.
  • Fourth grade and choir students will have multiple field trips throughout the year.
  • A permission slip will be sent home in advance. Students must return a signed slip to attend.
  • Students who do not return a signed permission slip will not be allowed to participate.

Chaperone Guidelines

  • Parents may be invited to chaperone field trips. To chaperone, you must register as a volunteer on the CISD website under the Student/Parent section.
  • Only approved chaperones may attend field trips with the school. Additional parents, family members, or siblings may not join the trip for safety and supervision reasons.
  • All students are required to ride the school bus to and from the field trip. Parents must meet the school at the destination. Bus transportation is not available for non-staff adults.

Important Reminders

  • Parents attending field trips as chaperones may not check their child out from the trip or take them home directly from the venue. All students will return to school with their class.

  • Please do not purchase food, drinks, gifts, or souvenirs for your child or other students. This creates inequity and distractions during the trip.

  • Your child must remain with their assigned school chaperone for the entire field trip unless otherwise directed by school staff.

  • Due to occupancy restrictions and safety protocols, we kindly ask that only parents who have been asked to chaperone attend field trips.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, structured, and fun experience for all students!

Birthdays and Celebrations Birthdays and Celebrations

We love celebrating our students and understand how exciting birthdays can be! To help ensure that all students feel included and that the school day runs smoothly, we kindly ask that families follow the guidelines below for classroom birthday celebrations and other celebrations:

  • Parents may send store-bought treats to be shared with the class. These treats will be distributed by the teacher during a time that works best for the class schedule.

  • Please contact your child’s teacher ahead of time to confirm arrangements. This helps us plan accordingly and accommodate any allergies or special needs.

  • There must be enough treats for each student in the class to participate.

  • Beverages are not permitted.

  • Goodie bags are not allowed and will be sent back home with your child.

  • Please do not send balloons, flowers, candles, or other celebratory items to school. These items can be disruptive to the learning environment.

  • If you wish to send party invitations, they may only be distributed if there is one for every student in the classroom.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to make each birthday celebration enjoyable, inclusive, and school-appropriate for all!
