From the Principal – Growing Together, Stronger Every Day
Hello Riverview Families,
What an amazing week it has been at Riverview! Our Falcons continue to show growth not only in academics but also in the way they support and encourage one another. Each day, we see students living out our SOAR expectations, whether it’s showing kindness to a classmate, taking responsibility for their choices, or striving to reach their personal best.
A special highlight this week has been the Fun Run. The energy, excitement, and community spirit were incredible! We are so grateful to our PTA and to all of you for your encouragement and support. Events like these remind us of the power of working together to build a positive and connected school community.
As we look ahead, Parent–Teacher Conferences are just around the corner. These conferences are a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child’s progress, set goals for continued growth, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. We are looking forward to connecting with you and celebrating all the ways your child is learning and thriving.

Fall Picture Day - Tuesday, September 16th
Smile! Fall Picture Day is coming to Riverview on Tuesday, September 16th. Students will have the opportunity to have their individual photos taken. Order forms are below and paper copies have also been sent home with students.
Attendance & Punctuality Reminders
- Our doors open for students at 8:30 AM, and classroom instruction begins promptly at 8:45 AM.
- Please help remind your child to be in their seat and ready to learn by 8:45—every minute counts, and there is so much exciting learning to be done each day!
- If your child will be absent, please notify both the office and their classroom teacher. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals help set students up for success.
Connect, Align, Grow
At Riverview, our Connect, Align, and Grow goals aren’t just for school, they thrive when our whole community is part of the journey.
-
Connect: Building strong, trusting relationships between students, staff, and families helps every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
-
Align: Working together—home, school, and community, means students hear consistent messages and expectations wherever they go.
-
Grow: When we nurture curiosity, resilience, and responsibility, students become confident learners and caring citizens who make a difference in our community.
GROW – Striving for Your Best
REACH – Striving for Your Best
At Riverview, we encourage students to reach for their best in everything they do. Reaching for your best doesn’t mean being perfect—it means showing effort, perseverance, and pride in your work and actions. When students give their best, they build confidence, develop new skills, and inspire those around them to do the same.
This week, we are highlighting the “R” in SOAR: Reach for Your Best. Reaching for your best means setting goals, staying focused, and working hard—even when things feel challenging.
How Families Can Help This Week:
Celebrate effort as much as achievement. Ask your child to share something they worked hard on each day, whether it was solving a tricky math problem, practicing sports, or being a good friend. Encourage them to talk about what they learned from the process, not just the outcome.
Scholastic News Book Fair
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to share that our school’s Book Fair is right around the corner! From September 22–24, students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair during the school day to shop for books they’ll love. Families will also have the chance to shop together during Parent-Teacher Conferences.
To make shopping even easier, we strongly encourage the use of the Scholastic eWallet. This is a safe, cash-free option that allows your child to make purchases without handling money at school. Setting up an eWallet is quick and simple, and it’s a stress-free way to ensure your child can enjoy the Book Fair. Click here to set up your student's eWallet!
Volunteers Needed for Book Fair
We are also looking for a few wonderful parent volunteers to help us with set-up before the fair begins and tear-down once it wraps up. Your support will help make the event a success for all of our students! Check out available spots here!
Thank you in advance for your enthusiasm and for encouraging a love of reading in our school community. We can’t wait to see all of the students explore the great books coming our way!
Counselor's Corner
Responsibility Builds Trust
At Riverview, we continue to focus on the importance of Responsibility. Being responsible means more than just completing tasks—it’s about showing others that we can be trusted to make good choices and follow through on commitments. When students act responsibly, they build trust with teachers, classmates, and family members.
A great way to think about responsibility is: “taking ownership of your choices and their impact on others.” This might look like remembering to bring materials to class, taking care of personal belongings, or noticing when a friend needs help and stepping in to support.
Family Connection Idea:
Work together as a family to identify a shared responsibility—like keeping a common space tidy, preparing a meal together, or checking the mail each day. Celebrate the teamwork and talk about how everyone’s efforts contributed to making things run smoothly.
Our focus for next month will be Kindness.
Taken from Purposeful People.
Celebrations & Shoutouts
This week, we’re celebrating our Riverview PTA!
We are incredibly grateful for our Riverview PTA and the countless ways they support our students, staff, and community. They volunteer their time, energy, and talents to make Riverview a better place for all and this week was no exception!
The PTA planned, organized, and ran a fantastic Fun Run that brought so much joy, excitement, energy, and school spirit to our Falcons. From the behind-the-scenes work to cheering on students the day of the event, their dedication truly shines.
Thank you to this incredible group of parents for all you do to help our students SOAR!

Nurse Updates
A nurse is now available in the office, so please feel free to call or stop by if you need to:
-
Drop off medications or medication orders
-
Inform us of any new health conditions
-
Provide updated immunization records (especially if your child is new to Riverview)
-
Submit a physical exam form (required if your child is attending a Kansas school for the first time and is 8 years old or younger)
We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills—especially during lunch—are common, and we may not always have extra clothing in the right size.
If you prefer, you may also email our nurses directly:

Nancy Tausz – ntausz@usd232.org
Visitor Management System
USD 232 continue using visitor management system this year through Centegix. All visitors will continue checking in through the office, however an ID will be a requirement. This ID will be entered into the Centegix system and will create a sticker with a picture that must be visibly worn throughout the building. Nobody will be allowed in the building without an ID. Thank you in advance for your patience as we implement this new system!
Arrival/Dismissal
Car Loop Tips for a Smooth Pick-Up & Drop-Off
To help keep our car loop moving safely and efficiently:
-
Have your child practice getting in and out of their car seat or seatbelt on their own.
-
Parents, please stay in your vehicle—our staff or Honor Patrol helpers will assist as needed.
-
A folder, sign, or paper with your student’s name displayed helps us get them to your car more quickly.
Thank you for helping us keep the process safe, smooth, and speedy for everyone!
Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table!
For your convenience, we have a Drop-Off Table located just inside the front doors. If your student forgot something, like their lunch, instrument, glasses, or any other classroom item, you can simply buzz in, drop it off, and be on your way. No need to sign in or go through the visitor management system. Just remember to write your student’s name on the sticky notes provided so we can make sure it gets to them quickly. Thank you for helping keep our drop-offs smooth and efficient!
At Riverview we are very safety conscious. Please see the map below for specific arrival/dismissal details.
