A Message from Dr. Hicks

Hello, Cougars.

It's an exciting time at Jarrell ISD. On August 3rd, we welcomed our new teachers to the district and next week, all staff return to prepare for the new school year. Each one of our campuses will host an event, including Meet the Teacher Night, the JMS Welcome Walk, and Meet the Cougars. Look below to see more dates/times and campus specific information.

Next week we will host our school supply distribution event on August 13th from 10 am - 1 pm at the JISD Annex at 508 East Avenue F. Distribution is on a first-come, first serve basis. We will also have people to assist with the Free & Reduced-Price Lunch Applications. Remember, Jarrell ISD is required to start charging for school meals again. The U.S. Congress is not funding the program this year as it was part of the COVID-19 Relief Package, which expired.

Finally, Tax-Free Weekend starts today and goes through Sunday. It's a terrific opportunity to buy qualifying back-to-school items. Here's the link to see what items qualify https://bit.ly/3zxDzZL.

The first day of school is August 17th and we can’t wait to see the smiling faces of our students on campus.

Cougar proud,

Dr. Toni Hicks

Free & Reduced-Price Lunch Applications

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress authorized spending that allowed schools to serve free meals for all students. Unfortunately, those funds are not authorized to continue for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, Jarrell ISD must return to charging for school meals and offering free and reduced-price meals based on student eligibility. Applications and more information is below.

Applications are being mailed to Jarrell ISD families.

All families are encouraged to complete the application. We'll provide application assistance on the following dates and times:
-Aug. 6th from 9-11 at the JISD Annex (Farmers' Market)
-Aug. 6th from 9-11 at the JMS Gym (School Supply Distribution)
