World Kindness Day
On World Kindness Day, students came together to take the Kindness Pledge, committing to acts of compassion, respect, and understanding. Through this pledge, they celebrated the power of kindness to create a positive and inclusive school environment.
Veterans Day Assembly
Our Veterans Day assembly was a heartfelt tribute to honor local veterans. Students performed patriotic songs, read poems, and honored a special WPHS alumni veteran, Dayvon Smith. Dr. Ricca and Mayor Roach were in attendance and spoke to our students and families. Veterans in attendance were warmly applauded and invited to stand and be honored when their service song/branch anthem was played. Following the assembly, we hosted a breakfast where students and veterans connected over conversation, creating a meaningful opportunity for students to express gratitude and learn firsthand about the experiences of these honored guests.
Quarter 1 Honor Roll Assembly
The Quarter One Honor Roll Assembly was a celebration of student achievement, where dedication and hard work took center stage. Students who excelled academically were recognized for their outstanding performance, reflecting their commitment to learning and personal growth. The assembly not only highlighted individual successes but also inspired everyone to strive for excellence in the coming quarters.
Quarter 1 After Party
Students celebrated the end of the first quarter with an exciting "after-party/social" filled with laughter and energy. The event featured live music, a variety of games such as gaga ball, box ball and volleyball. There were plenty of delicious snacks to enjoy. It was the perfect way to unwind and celebrate their hard work together.
Friendsgiving Student Luncheon
In preparation for their Friendsgiving student luncheon, the students voted on the menu, making it a fun and collaborative experience. Everyone got a say in selecting their favorite dishes. The luncheon was a huge hit, filled with laughter, gratitude, and a true sense of community. Sharing a meal chosen by the group made the celebration even more special and memorable.
Bullying Prevention/ Online Safety Assembly
Our SRO/student resource officer, Ashley Garcia, held an engaging assembly on bullying prevention and online safety, emphasizing the importance of kindness and responsible digital behavior. Students learned how their actions, both in person and online, contribute to a positive school environment, and how their digital footprint can have long-lasting effects. The officer shared real-life examples and practical tips, encouraging students to think before they post and to stand up against bullying.
Winter Concerts
Our band, orchestra, and chorus students shone brightly during this yearβs winter concerts, delivering performances that were truly enjoyed by all. Their talent, hard work, and creativity were on full display, filling the air with beautiful music and festive cheer. We are so proud of how our students express themselves through the arts!
Winter Wonderland Student Luncheon

The cafeteria was transformed into a magical winter wonderland, setting the perfect scene for celebration. It was a delightful experience that brought joy to all who attended, especially when Mr. Dixon sang to us.
PTA Hosts a Paint & Sip Hot Cocoa Night
A big thank you to our PTA for hosting a Paint and Sip Hot Cocoa Night at Eastview! Students had the opportunity to enjoy hot cocoa, treats, and painting while spending quality time together.
Chorus Students Perform at a Martin Luther King Jr. Event
Our chorus students had the honor of performing at a community Martin Luther King Jr. program on Wednesday, January 15th, at Calvary Baptist Church, where they delivered several inspiring songs.
Media Arts
Media Arts students were challenged to use the professional design software Adobe Illustrator to create posters for each school team. Adobe Illustrator is a vector design program whereby students draw with shapes and designs can be infinitely resized without pixelation. Some students created designs for multiple teams! The art of all entrants is currently on display in the lobby of the school. A winning poster was selected for each team, and it will be hung in the auditorium to mark the morning meeting location of that team for years to come.
International Night
International Night was a vibrant celebration of culture and community, where students and their families came together to honor their heritage. The event featured a captivating performance that showcased traditions from around the world. Guests enjoyed an array of delicious foods representing diverse cuisines, creating a feast for the senses. It was a night of unity, pride, and cultural appreciation, bringing everyone closer through shared stories and celebrations.

January Character Counts Theme: Teamwork
Principal's Corner- Mr. Dixon
Partnering With Our School
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In December, we introduced our Character Counts theme and began important conversations with our students about teamwork. To encapsulate the idea of working together, we shared a NASCAR pit crews video with both our faculty and students. NASCAR VIDEO
The goal of this video was to emphasize teamwork and illustrate how each member of the pit crew is vital to the overall success of the driver. This teamwork exemplifies the idea that Every Person Impacts Culture.
As Felicia Rashad once said, "The measure of excellence is judged by your commitment to your work." At Eastview, we are dedicated to creating experiences that help students understand what community looks and feels like.
So far this year, our students have engaged in many activities that reinforce the principle of using teamwork to build community:
- Veterans Day Assembly: A collaborative effort to honor those who served.
- Winter Concerts: Featuring performances from the band, orchestra, and chorus, showcasing teamwork in music.
- Friendsgiving Luncheon: Students selected a lunch menu together, promoting collaboration in planning and sharing.
- First Quarter Honor Roll Assembly: Celebrating academic achievements as a community.
- First Quarter After Party: The Student Organization planned activities and games for all students, fostering a fun and inclusive environment.
- Tiger Times Newspapers: The first and second editions created collaboratively by students.
- International Night: A joint effort between students and teachers to celebrate cultural diversity.
- World Kindness Day: Activities that encouraged kindness and cooperation among students.
- Student Choir Performance: Our student choir had the honor of performing at Calvary Baptist Church prior to the week of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, displaying their talents and commitment to the community.
- Inaugural Food Pantry: Students are working with faculty and staff to create and set up Eastview Middle Schoolβs first-ever food pantry, which will open soon to support our community.
- Teamwork Circles Activity- Students were able to reflect on the essence of collaboration and the power of a shared understanding.
These activities, along with those shared in the newsletter, exemplify our commitment to the belief that doing the simple things right fosters a culture of community, which is a cornerstone of our initiatives.
At Eastview, we embrace the concept of #EPIC. We believe that creating team-building experiences helps our students become collaborative team members who are future-ready, instilling the understanding that when the team wins, the community wins!!!
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive and collaborative environment for our students. Together, we can help them thrive.
Sincerely,
Leroy Dixon

Staying organized and having the right tools can make a big difference in a studentβs confidence and success. Restocking items like pens, pencils, and dividers can help them stay prepared and focused on their learning. Thank you for your support in helping your child stay on track!
