✝️ Prayer

Heavenly Father,

As we enter the month of June, we pause to thank God for the many blessings within our school community. We pray for our students, staff and families as we continue our learning journey together.

May we show kindness in our words, patience in our actions and compassion to those around us. Help us to notice those who may need support and to be people of hope and encouragement.

We especially pray for peace in our world and for all families facing challenges at this time.

Lord, guide us throughout this week so that all we do reflects Your love and care for others.

Amen.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Long Weekend and Mid-Semester Reports

Despite the extreme weather I hope everyone enjoyed a lovely June long weekend and had some time to rest and reconnect with family.

As we move deeper into the term, our teachers are very busy preparing mid-semester reports. Moderation sessions have commenced this week to ensure consistency and high standards across all year levels.

We are certainly in the thick of a busy and productive term, and I thank our staff, students and families for their ongoing commitment and support.

EduTECH Conference

I am currently writing to you from Sydney, where I am attending the EduTECH Conference. Over the next three days, I will be participating in keynote presentations and workshops focused on artificial intelligence in education, digital innovation and contemporary approaches to learning and teaching. As educators, it is important that we continue to explore emerging trends and innovative practices to ensure we are providing the very best learning opportunities for our students.

At St Denis, we are committed to creating engaging, future-focused learning experiences, and this conference has provided valuable opportunities to gather new ideas and connect with fellow CEWA principals. I look forward to bringing back insights and inspiration to support the continued growth and success of our students and staff.

Website and Parent Hub Launch

As communicated to parents last week, we are excited to launch our new website, which brings together key information in one easy-to-access place. From now on, student absences can also be submitted directly via the newsletter and Parent Hub for greater convenience.

Our new Parent Hub provides quick links to the school calendar, Seesaw, newsletters and other important updates, helping families stay connected and informed in one central location.

LifeLink Day

At St Denis, we are committed to helping our students develop not only academically but also as compassionate and socially aware young people. As part of this, we are proud to be raising funds for LifeLink at our upcoming fundraising day on Friday, 5 June. LifeLink calls us to live our faith in action. By supporting LifeLink, we stand with those in need, helping Catholic agencies provide care, hope and dignity, putting compassion and justice at the heart of all we do.

We look forward to coming together as a school community to support this worthy cause while demonstrating the values of compassion, empathy and service that are at the heart of our Catholic faith.

Have a wonderful fortnight everyone.

Growing Sustainability in ECE

Sustainability is becoming a vibrant part of everyday learning in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) area at St Denis. Through hands-on experiences, our students are developing an understanding of how to care for God's creation and make responsible choices for the future.

A highlight this term has been the arrival of our new chickens, who have quickly become much-loved members of our learning community. Students are helping to care for them while learning about responsibility, food production and the importance of living things.

We are also excited to see our garden beds flourishing after being planted with the generous support of Bunnings. Children are actively involved in watering, caring for and observing the growth of vegetables and herbs, gaining a deeper appreciation for where food comes from.

Sustainability is also woven throughout our play-based learning. Students regularly use loose parts and REMIDA materials to create, design and problem-solve, giving new life to items that may otherwise be discarded. Box construction experiences encourage creativity, collaboration and innovation while promoting the value of reusing and recycling materials.

Through these meaningful experiences, our youngest learners are developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to become thoughtful stewards of the environment.

CSPWA AGM

Catholic School Parents WA invites all members to play an active part in guiding our work by submitting any motions for consideration at the upcoming AGM on 23rd June 2026. We also encourage you to consider nominating for the CSPWA Board, or perhaps to nominate someone whose commitment and perspective would strengthen our mission of supporting families in Catholic education across Western Australia. Your involvement ensures our parent voice remains strong, representative, and future focused.
