SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear LPOSD Families,
As we wrap up another successful school year, I want to thank our students, staff, families, and community for the partnership and support that make our schools such special places to learn and grow. Together, we have celebrated achievements, overcome challenges, and helped students reach important milestones along the way. 🎓🌟
I hope your summer is filled with time to relax, explore, and create lasting memories with family and friends. Before you go, I would love to hear your feedback, please take a moment to complete our brief parent survey. We look forward to welcoming our students back in the fall, refreshed and ready for another great year. 🫶
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership, bwm

Celebrating a Legacy of Service
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the remarkable staff members who are retiring this year. Together, these dedicated educators and support staff have contributed more than 290 years of service to the students, families, and schools of our community. While years can be counted, the impact they have made cannot. Generations of students, families, and colleagues have been touched by their dedication, kindness, and commitment to education. Please join us in celebrating their extraordinary careers and wishing them all the best in the next chapter of their journey.
Former Students Return to Honor Mr. Brownell
After 37 years of serving students in our district, Mr. Brownell was surprised by more than 30 former students who returned to the stage to sing alongside him one last time during his final concert. The emotional tribute was a powerful testament to the lasting impact he has had on generations of students through music, mentorship, and unwavering dedication. During the concert, Mr. Brownell also recognized longtime accompanist Laurie Stevens for her decades of partnership and support. We invite you to watch this special moment and join us in celebrating an extraordinary career and legacy.
Life Skills & Lemonade at Farmin Stidwell
Students in the Farmin Stidwell Life Skills class recently put their entrepreneurial skills to work through a student-run lemonade stand organized by teacher Tory Grant. The hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to practice important real-world skills such as communication, customer service, money handling, teamwork, and problem-solving while serving cold lemonade to their peers. Experiences like this are a key part of the Life Skills program, helping students build confidence, independence, and practical skills that support success both in and beyond the classroom. 🍋
JROTC Awards Banquet
The JROTC program at Sandpoint High School recently celebrated a major milestone with its first-ever Awards Banquet, recognizing the accomplishments, leadership, and dedication of its inaugural group of cadets. Throughout the program's first year, students have embraced opportunities to develop discipline, teamwork, service, and leadership skills, laying a strong foundation for the future of JROTC in our district. We are incredibly proud of these students for helping establish a successful new tradition and extend special recognition to JROTC instructor Kyle Olmsted, whose vision, commitment, and leadership have been instrumental in building this program from the ground up. Congratulations to all of this year's award recipients and cadets on a remarkable first year.
Washington Cougars Jog-A-Thon!
Washington Elementary students recently received their official Jog-A-Thon t-shirts in recognition of their participation in this year's school-wide event. The annual Jog-A-Thon encourages students to stay active while building school spirit, perseverance, and healthy habits. Seeing students proudly wearing their shirts was a great reminder of the enthusiasm and determination they showed throughout the event. Congratulations to all of our Washington Cougars for their hard work and participation, and thank you to the staff, families, and supporters who helped make this year's Jog-A-Thon a success!

Chafe 150 Gran Fondo is Just Around the Corner!
A big thank you to the dedicated volunteers and community members of the Sandpoint Rotary Club for organizing the annual Chafe 150 Gran Fondo! This incredible cycling event not only brings riders together from across the region, but also directly supports our Every Student Graduates a Reader program, helping provide students with additional literacy support and resources. We are grateful for Rotary’s continued partnership and investment in the success of our students and schools.
ACES Plane Building Program
The sky is truly the limit thanks to our incredible partnership with the North Idaho High School Aerospace Program. Through the ACES Plane Building Program, students ages 12 and up have the opportunity to step into a real aircraft workshop environment and gain hands-on experience building airplanes alongside knowledgeable volunteer mentors. We are incredibly grateful for the North Idaho High School Aerospace Program and the dedicated volunteers who continue creating these one-of-a-kind opportunities for students in our community.
