TOMS Staff
Congratulations!
We are celebrating "Dr. P" again at Ten Oaks Middle School. We are beyond thrilled to announce that Dr. JoLynn Prochaska has been selected as an HCS TOP 5 Teacher of the Year Finalist.
Dr. P is the first ever finalist for our school. Her dedication,
passion, and unwavering commitment to her students make her truly one of a kind. She is not just as an incredible teacher but she is an even better person.
Our students’ and staff could not contain their excitement as cheers echoed throughout the building, even though she wasn’t here in person today, we surprised her with the news over the phone and can't wait to continue celebrating her and all the amazing educators, teachers, and staff at TOMS when she returns on Monday! Congratulations again, Dr. P! You epitomize our motto: Success—Nothing Less!
Our 8th-grade teacher, Mrs. McKever, shared an inspiring article from The Post and Courier of Myrtle Beach! We are beyond proud of TOMS 8th-grade students and Carolina Forest residents, Mykah Sheppard and Elijah Pierce, for stepping up to assist the firefighters and help our community this week. Their bravery and community spirit are truly commendable!
Mrs. Lennon was able to catch up with Elijah and Mykah to hear about their efforts!

Congratulations, Michael Fam!
We are thrilled to announce that Michael has been accepted to the Honors Performance Series Middle School National Band! He was nominated by Mr. Pope and selected after an intense nationwide audition process. Michael will be performing this summer at Carnegie Hall in New York – an incredible honor! Not only is this an outstanding achievement for Michael, but he is also the first student in Ten Oaks and Horry County Schools middle school history to be selected for this prestigious event. Michael plays the euphonium at Ten Oaks. A big congratulations and thank you to Mr. John Lemke, Michael's private tutor, for helping him prepare this audition, and his incredible teaching! We're so proud of you, Michael, and can't wait to see you shine on that iconic stage!
This week, we've been celebrating Read Across America Week with some fun and themed days! Check out our photos from the Favorite College Team Apparel day, Wacky Wednesday Mismatched Day, and of course, our traditional Fox in Socks Crazy Sock Day!
This the Ten Oaks Middle School Kindness Club came together to express our heartfelt gratitude for the heroic efforts of all the First Responders from near and far across South Carolina.
Members wrote thank-you notes and cards, sharing our appreciation for their selfless service to keep our community safe.
In addition, our students and staff are adding their personal messages of thanks to banners, which will be presented to our local fire stations as a token of our support.
A big thank you to all our First Responders for your dedication, courage, and commitment. You are true heroes!
CONGRATS to TOMS Silver Fox and future CFHS Panther, Michael Pearson!
Michael took 1st place in the 15U 143 bracket at the SCYWA State Championship in Lexington this past weekend! His hard work and determination have earned him an invitation to join the Palmetto State team at the Southeast Championship next weekend in Clemson, SC! Hello TOMS 7th Grade Parents/Guardians,
It's hard to believe that the school year is already more than halfway over! We wanted to take a minute to check-in and to share some important information about your student's transition to 8th grade. Below, you will find a 'Goal Setting' Presentation that was developed to help students, and their parents/guardians navigate the middle school years and begin to plan for the future. Students will have the opportunity to watch the presentation in school but may also benefit from watching it again with a parent/guardian.
7th Grade students will also be submitting their requests for their 8th grade discovery courses. Students will view the following PowerPoint Presentation in TOMS Time prior to requesting their discovery courses. Please take a minute to review this presentation and talk to your student about their discovery course requests for 8th grade.
Rising 8th Grade Discovery Request Presentation
* Students who are interested in applying for Pro Team and Yearbook for the 25-26 school year should fill out this interest form. Applications will come out later this spring- and if selected that class will take the spot of their 1st choice.
After watching the 'Goal Setting Presentation' and talking with your student about their discovery course requests for 8th grade, please call or email the assigned school counselor if you would like to schedule a meeting to discuss questions you may have about your student's transition to 8th grade and future plans.
Thank you,
